Oh goodness, whenis it for?

I'm confused....did you wait till now to take this class because you dreaded it, or you dreaded it because waited till now to take it and would be bored?

It is for either 3/7 or 3/28.

I put this class off till now because I was hoping a different one would be offered. For my psych major, there are 5 emphasis areas that you have to take one class out of, one of which is Developmental. The classes in that area are developmental, Infancy, and Normal Aging Process. In 3 years, they have never offered the latter 2. So, I'm stuck w/ this. Which, it's not awful, but it's a new prof who thinks she needs to make this class hard since it never has been.

It was a bit over 200 words... but it was more of just an update. I wrote a paragraph about that award I got, and then another little paragraph about my continued interest.

I put a lot more stuff in it then I guess. There are a few paragraphs on why I like the school, why I'd be a good fit and what I want to get out of it. I talked about my ties to the state a bit, what I've been doing since, and short closing thanking them and offering my first born if they'd accept me 😉

I wasn't real sure if I should address any negatives, but since it never really came up I went ahead and threw a short blurb about my low mcat and that I felt my grades were proof that I'm not a complete dolt.

Not sure I see a point in waiting. True, they all might very well have decided their lists, but to the extent we're not certain, I would take Lacrosse's cue.

Absolutely address weaknesses. Who else can do it except you? The first born was a nice touch...shows you're a family man, and what's medschool but one big family...the adcom chicks will dig that. Next time, offer 10% of your future earnings as well...a tithe if you will. That'll get all the fundraising/admin types all hot and steamy for you.😍

Speaking of '39... my boyfriend and I were in our Student Commons this afternoon picking up info on grad announcements and in the food court/seating area, there is this big sign that says "Congratulations to the 2008 Mizzou '39 Recipients!" and then all of our names listed... I was like ahh! I'm famous!

So I think I'm going to call MCW tomorrow and say thanks, but no thanks. It's 10,000 more a year than Mizzou and I guess I'm just not too excited about it(probably because I'm spending all my excitement on Rochester... man will I be crushed if that doesn't work out... I already told my boyfriend, LOTS of crying).

Why am I getting interviews from all these cold places??

You know all about the school/person, have seen pictures, but have yet to meet it/them in real life. And every single one of those people on eHarmony are happy when they meet the person and are always in love... just like on the commercials...

Before I got the link to class of 2012, I had to navigate for like 10 minutes before I could find out what I'd actually be paying to go there.

Not really. It's a pretty chill place and all the students and faculty that I met were really nice. The hospital is a mile long (which is a plus in winter weather), so the tour is kinda long. I'd suggest comfortable shoes.

Maybe look up your interviewer before you go, so you can ask them about whatever field they're in. You can find out who you're assigned to on the status check website.

BTW, it'll probably be hella cold there right now. 🙂

I shot my letter to Dr. Thomas this morning at utmb. She pretty much told me the same thing she told you lacrosse. "Thanks for the interest...class overfilled...movement late may...and send email to be put in file..." It's nice to know at least somebody's over there though 🙂

In regards to the tour... did people bring a change of shoes? I know for UTMB most of us had a change of shoes since that tour was forever.

The only places I've seen people change shoes were here in Texas (UTH, Baylor).

No one did this at Rochester. I would just try to wear shoes that are on the more comfortable side (less of a heel or a flat).

Remember though, that these are committees. I think most hold votes on each app. The fact that she wrote this on the sheet may mean she's not even on it, and even if she was its only one vote. Considering how competitve admissions is, I'm sure they're impressed with many if not most candidates. They really have no reason to lie that I can think of. I think its more that we see our int as the face of the adcom, and exaggerate the importance of their mannerisms, mood, and what they tell us by superimposing that on the rest of the adcom. She may very well have fought for you, but guess what? If its a committee of ten, you're only at 10%. There's just too much noise between that and a majority for us to make accurate predictions.

I sent dr. thomas my letter earlier today. She gave me the whole class is overfilled, movement will be late may if any, and she'd put the letter in my file. Not sure about the waitlist stuff for them. That just leaves a&m I guess, this whole thing is quite disheartening, and my ability to write a meaningful letter seems to have left me 👎

It's good... my students this semester seem to enjoy it more. I TA for Animal Physiology lab. Last semester, I TAed w/ a graduate TA, but this semester I'm w/ the lab director. We take pictures of everyone in the lab and put their names under the pictures so we can memorize them... and last semester the lab director was amazed cause I memorized everyone in 5 minutes while they took a quiz. So yesterday, he handed me the sheet after we handed out quizzes and was like "Amaze me again"... so after 5 minutes I was like alright, I got it. After the quiz, he went in front of everyone and said "Okay before she gives the lecture, she is going to point to everyone and say their name!" At first I was like uh... but then I got on a roll and got all 24 names and everyone clapped haha. And everyone enjoyed the lecture (I had people telling me good job haha) since my voice actually varies in tones haha.
