Sweet manatee of mercy....if that guy had been Moses I'm afraid our dear Lacrosse wouldn't be here with us today.

Ah c'mon, need I remind you of all the times she's tortured us with the "I made incredible edible brownies! Mmmmmm! Sucks for you guys!" routine? Haha...jk 39😛.
So I'm still in Temple (leaving shortly). We had a very good weekend, and I bought this house:
http://www.realtor.com/search/listi...d05484fd&lid=1097439654&lsn=7&srcnt=11#Detail
It is tiny, but cute, totally updated, and about 10 blocks from S&W. It has about 30 (no lie!) ENORMOUS crape myrtles outlining the back yard, so when I close at the end of May, it should be fabulous.🙂
I'm happy, but it makes things all that much real at the same time...
By the way, congratulations lacrosse!!![]()

On the first night of Passover, you have something called a Seder, which is just a dinner to commemorate Passover. The centerpiece of the dinner is a Seder plate, which has a bunch of different symbolic foods on it. First, you have maror and charezet which are 2 types of bitter herbs that symbolize the bitterness and harshness the Jews had to survive while in Egypt. Next there is Charoset which is this mixture of nuts, brown sugar and apples which symbolizes the mortar the Jews used to build stonehouses in Egypt (super tasty by the way). Next is a Z'roa which is a shank bone symbolizing the sacrifice of a lamb for the lambs blood for the doors. Then there are the karpas (a vegetable, we usually use a potato, some use parsley) and beitzah (hardboiled egg) to symbolize spring. They are dipped into salt water before eaten to symbolize the tears of the Israelites.
So basically Seder the first night, and nothing leavened the rest of the way...not bad. Charoset does sound tasty. Why was the tradition expanded to all leavened stuff and not limited to bread? Can you eat say cookie dough before its baked? Or is it yeast as an ingredient that's the issue in these foods?

haha actually last night, I was at my boyfriend's house and he was like so you wanna make those cookies in the closet??
That's where its up for debate. We are technically not allowed to eat anything termed as chametz, which means anything containing certain leavening and fermenting products. So chametz also includes grains that bread may be made from, which are wheat, rye, barley, oats, and spelt, except for matzah which must be made from one of those. We can't eat those because oral law says that they start to ferment within 18 minutes of contact w/ water... so by this law, we're really not allowed to eat pasta even though it's not technically leavened. Other things like rice, some veggies (including raw and frozen), and corn products also shouldn't be used.
The amount you adhere to these practices depends on how much you yourself practice the religion. My family always mostly just sticks to the bread thing, but I also do the no pasta thing.
So I'm no chef, but aren't cookies generally made in the kitchen?
Very nice 👍
The sad part is you'll probably be paying less for your mortgage each month than I'll be paying to rent an apartment in downtown houston 🙁

That's the whole point!! It's actually worse than that because of our financing deal - 4.99% (variable, but that's for now), and we only HAVE to pay interest for the first 10 years. It's through BofA, so it's a legit deal. I figure my "payments" will be ~$300/month right now. It's teeniny, but cute. It will be good to have my own place. I have to go back on Friday for the inspection, but we're not closing until May 29. I need to measure stuff to the nth degree, figure out what I've got and what I need, and move forward from there. I'll probably paint much of the interior, and it needs a couple of things - namely a garage door and most likely a roof (which I'm going to push-back to the current owner on, because he said it was ok), but that's about it.
Looks like you'll be making cookies in the closet as well, and sleeping, taking a shower, watching tv....🙂
haha aw poor dd... at least you know where to look though! I'm still stuck in the "you should look at places at mizzou but maybe still in roch" limbo.
Yeah that's true. How are you going to deal with that whole situation? Is there a certain date where you'll just give up on roch and settle on mizzou?
Even odds that this "house" in 4 years becomes Temple's first skyscraper after cpa gets done with it 😀.
Just found out my rent is going up $25/mon if I renew. Guess that's what I get for making fun of dd's future H-town rent haha.

How was everyone's day?
Today I went to a seminar about serotonin's effect on place learning in Drosophila... it was a lot of information/graphs w/o a real story line.

oohhh. sounds exciting!
I had a lazy day - but as I was walking down the street to get my vehicle out of the shop, I saw one of the local grocery store's scooters in the ditch beside the road (well out of sight). After I got my vehicle (and paid a LOT of money), I went to said grocery store and told the manager. She thanked me profusely and said those things are about 20 grand a piece!! If only she had thanked me with a gift card...oh, well, I did my good deed for the day.
Now I probably would have taken it home and played around with it...then of course taken it back later 😉
So I get this news letter from the Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology (Because of my presenation I made last year), and it's always addressed "Dear Dr. dd (Has my real name of course)" and it always makes me grin 😀
How is the rent down there? Galveston isn't particularly cheap from what I remember...

I still have a car insurance offer my daughter received some time before her first birthday.People are just proactive if they think they can get your money!!
I see you discovered facebook.🙂
yay I'm cpa's friend too!
if only I could figure out dd's true identity.😉
Hint: look in my friends under the Kennesaw network... can't miss him 😀
got it!! thanks!🙂
Haha, man so I got sold out pretty bad by lacrosse! Hope she at least got something good out of it.
haha no worries dd... you guys are the only ones on sdn that are my friends on facebook... so not too sold out 😀
How lame is this - I have exactly ONE facebook friend that I actually know!!😳
lacrosse has more friends than people I know![]()
Congrats to your daughter too 👍 Guess that means she's missing the white coat ceremony...

Yes, lacrosse is as popular as she is pretty and smart. 😛
On another note, my daughter got the Guatemala scholarship!! Now she only has to raise about $700, and after her treadmill sale, she's got $300+ already. She's going to be thrilled!🙂

The daughter is missing the white coat, and my parents have just changed their summer trip plans, so they will be in Eastern Europe on the day of my white coat. 🙁 I guess it will just be my boys.
(kudu you better not snicker at that!)
She has more friends than people I ever plan on knowing haha. Even the Mizzou janitorial staff is probably on her list.
myKuduSlewaZulu said:Meh, she could just be a facebook spammer.
Why would you think that?🙂 I thought about it, and it wasn't easy, but everything that came to mind was just too mean. I must be getting soft....
😆....oh wait you're serious aren't you cpa? 😛Yes, lacrosse is as popular as she is pretty and smart. 😛
And don't feel too bad, none of my family made it.
Congrats to her. What happened with the broken treadmill situation?
😆....oh wait you're serious aren't you cpa? 😛
So I made my boyfriend get on facebook so I could see what this whole facebook chat creepiness was about... these people come up w/ everything!
I'm sort of getting worried I may have too many people going to mine. I swear every time I turn around I hear my mom talking to somebody else, "oh yeah his white coat ceremony is in august would you like to come?"
"Mom, I don't think the grocery store clerk wants to come...."
...and all this time I was worried about Kudu stooping that low...

Ugh...I'd almost rather have no one show up than everbody show up haha. I guess they could do the wave or something when you're on stage.
