Im a second semester freshman right now. In my first semester (Fall 2014), i took bio 1 and i got an F. Apparently in my college they have this policy in which if a first semester freshman fails a class that F gets converted into an NC. I never applied for the P/NC option. How do dental schools such as NYU Stony Brook Columbia view an NC on a prereq? Is the NC better than an F or should I ask the college to put the F and retake the bio course? Is there any real point of continuing pre dental studies since i got an NC in a bio course? Do people still get into dental school with an NC in a bio course?

You can still pursue it. Because the important thing isthat you do well on the higher level science courses.

Can you not retake the class if you had an NC?

Will they let you graduate with that on your transcript? I would retake the class either way, this semester if you can. You need that for the foundation of your other classes.

@ajj70 I plan on retaking the course. I don't know if they'll let me graduate with that on my transcript.
