PA to MD... How does it work?

Would it be possible to go from being a PA to a MD? Would you have to go through all of medical school and then do a residency or just go straight into residency? How does it work?

I'm moving this to the main Pre-Allo forum because it's a general question, but yes, the person would still have to go to med school, and would have had to have met all of the course pre-reqs before attending.

no bridge exists at the current time although a pa to do bridge is on the horizon in the next few yrs.
a pa still has to meet all pre reqs, take the mcat, and do 4 yrs + a residency.
the proposed bridge in development would probably be tied to an fp residency and be a 6 yr pa to do/fp bridge with the student doing ms1-ms3 then going directly into a 3 yr fp residency affiliated with the program which they were guaranteed admission to so no need for matching, etc.
