I know how you feel! Pacific by far has the most strict and difficult application out of all the schools I have done so far. I think it is because they are a private school and have more of an investment in the students they select. I heard that they are more interested in your extracurricular stuff than your gades.

OOgilily,

How long were your answers to each question?

Pacific's essays are pretty involved, but they don't require an additional scholarship application, so it isn't really that much worse than any other school. The essays are a great way to get to know the applicant, so think of it as one of your times to shine!

Not sure if I'm the only one feeling this way...but Pacific essay questions are really hard to write. They seem pretty strict about following directions. geez.

1. Describe your optometry observation experiences and how they influenced your choice to pursue the profession of optometry.

2. Write about the most pressing current issue facing optometrists as healthcare providers. Please identify the issue and justify why you selected it.

3. Tell us about an experience that shaped you, how it affected you and how it will influence you as an optometry student and an optometrist.

4. If you have visited Pacific University, please tell us what about your visit made a lasting impression on you. If you have not visited Pacific University, describe the steps you have taken to familiarize yourself with our program and what provided the most lasting impression.

I'm worried that I might not be able to answer these questions thoroughly :scared:

Have you seen the essay topics for Texas? (if you plan on applying) I'm worried about Q2

EyeQ: I haven't done the Pacific ones yet. I will probably do them today and tomorrow. I expect they won't super long. I really doubt I'll go over 500 words on any essay and that may be long at that. I'll just write until I run out of things to say. I'm not one to draw things out.

iEYEi: If I remember right, Q2 for Houston is about the different kinds of optometry practices? It wasn't too bad writing this one. Just rely on your shadowing experience and the questions that you asked the doctor. Just about my whole essay came from questions that I asked the ODs I shadowed. I would focus on a type of practice that you would actually want to be in someday. That way you will have more interest in the essay.
