Oh, I thought it was the same one! Maybe I should join the new "official" group.

I'm in!!!😀

OOOH! haha, after reading the previous posts, I thought you meant you got into the Yahoo group. I was wondering why someone would be so excited to join an online group.

CONGRATS! 😀

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M SOOOO HAPPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😎😱😀🙂😳😍:laugh::hardy::hardy:

Forgot to ask: Where's the official statement? I emailed ACPE and they said on July 15th, they would update their website to make it official to the public. Ahh who cares. SO HAPPY! Now I'm really going to be a pharmacist!

Hey guys:

Yay for Pacific getting their candidate status!

I guess I should introduce myself to the pack. My name is Michelle and I am currently going to my 4th year of Bio at UBC in Vancouver, Canada.

I've been interested in this career since 1st yr, and has since worked in a pharmacy p/t for the last 2.5yrs. I have satisfactory PCAT marks (84%), but a bad gpa (~B) due to some issues in my first and second yr of undergrad.

I've been trying for UBC's BPharm for the last two years. Each year I receive interviews, but is not able to meet the final cut!

I started looking at US's PharmD program because I felt like I'm almost done my B.Sc and thus rather have a PharmD, than two bachelors on my hand.

I didn't even know that the US had THAT many pharmacy schools! I just started researching about Pacific (I still love and want to stay in the West coast), and everything I've seen about this school sounds quite awesome 👍

Anyways, just want to congratulate everybody who got in last cycle! Application for next cycle is coming up soon, I'll have to go through what everybody is going through soon! 😛

hey i was just wondering if you can only pay your $1000 down payment via check. i didn't see anywhere to write down a cc#

you can pay it with a CC - I actually called Janella - and she took my card info... They charged my card like 4 days later - but well within the required time line...

I got some info in the mail yesterday. A calendar of classes as well as the O-chem review list. I wasn't very excited about reviewing O-chem, and now that I saw the list of what we should remember, I'm a bit nervous. I took O-chem in the summer of 2002!

Anyway, thought I'd add this to retrieve our thread from page 3.

Hey Pharm - can you post that info in the thread (via scan or such) - it might be useful for people to know what they need for Pacific's 1st year pharm... oh - and I'd like to know as well - seeing as Orlando's mail is 4-5 days behind Oregon's.

As you were... I actually received the very same packet today - wow - lots of goodies in there...

One question - We took out 3000 for equipment - 2500 of which is for computer/printer/software. Are they actually going to deposit that money into our accounts??? I held off purchasing a new laptop because I could not justify spending the money - If I already took out a loan for it - I may reconsider.

Any thoughts?

I'm also wondering about when the loan $ will show up. I put my computer on my credit card, but was hoping I would get the loan $ before the bill is due. Hopefully we'll find out about that soon....so far I haven't received much info from financial aid, aside from the initial offer.

I called the financial aid office about a month ago. Unfortunately, they said the loans should get disbursed around Aug 27th.

The timing is actually pretty good - Financial aid is typically disbursed after ADD/DROP period has ended - which is like a full week or two after the semester is in full swing - the 27th is Training Day 1.

The question is - will we be paid the $3000 supply loan + the $1000 deposit back??? That money would certainly ease the financial burden of the first month (I put my deposit on a 0% CC - but it would be nice to get it off).

Has anyone asked the specific money question (how much will actually be deposited to/for us... wait - did I even give them my account information???

Does this mean I should hold off on my plasma tv and my living room furniture? 😱

What will I ever do?!?!

But seriously, 8/27 is pretty late. My gf said she usually gets her money a week before school starts. But it's different for ever school I think since they have different schedules. Oh well.

I can only have my c/c not paid off for so long. And I'm so happy we got our packet with the schedules. I can plan out my whole year already.

Hey guys,
This is a little off the current topic but does everyone already have their living situations figured out? Anybody still looking for a roomate? I wouldn't mind living by myself but if I can split the cost 2 or 3 ways I'm down to save a little money.

Hey current Pacific students..

Just out of curiosity: it says on the website that tuition alone is 33k/yr. How much are the textbook/med insurance/lab fee etc etc etc adding up to be? 😱

Thanks!

Hey guys, did anyone NOT receive the packet of information yet? I didn't get anything in the mail yet. It probably should have arrived already.... hmmmmm. I am anxious to see what I need to be studying for Ochem.

Hi Ammarha... I haven't received anything in the mail, either. I hope somebody can confirm what materials we need to review for OChem.😀

Still no goodies for me neither. 🙁 I sent an email asking if I should be worried that my mail is lost. I will keep you posted on any response I hear. I will be moving to Oregon soon.... packing up the moving truck on Friday. Yippee.. hopefully it will be a uneventful move, but I have 2 cats so we'll see how it goes 🙂 Plus, it's in the high 90's here in Fargo, so packing and loading + high heat and humidity = torture. When is everyone else planning on getting there? See you all soon!

I received an email from John-Erik and he said he was going to check to see when my packet was sent. But he said since I am going to be in Hillsboro by next week I can always drop by and pick up all the info I don't have/need. Maybe it is in the mailbox right now... 😀

...... I am going to be in Hillsboro by next week ....

Oh no, moving is becoming a reality now. Aloha from Hawaii but tomorrow morning, I'm flying back to CA. Hawaii was my last "thing" before I move to Oregon early August.

Aloha! You are a lucky man. I would love to be in Hawaii right now!! For a while I was hooked on the reality show, "Dog the Bounty Hunter".... and now when I think of Hawaii I think of that show. LOL... wish I was there on the beach!

Hey guys! Anyone make it to Hillsboro yet?? I have been here for a week... so far so good. I think I am going to have to call the school tomorrow for a definitive answer about when we will be recieving a refund check..... I am soooo low on money after this move and all the extra costs I have run into. 😱 Does anyone know anything FOR SURE??? I just hope we get our money before I have to pay my rent by Sept. 5. Okay... done stressing for a while.

Hey guys. Any idea about how many apps pacific received last year? I called them they said 592. I read on another someone wrote over 1000?

thanks.

Do we have to buy all the books on the list that was sent to our Pacific email account? I thought I heard someone said we don't need any books because the books are really expensive.

Hello,
You can get your refund by 1st week of school and you sure can expedite the process by informing them that you are stopping by to hand pick it if you wish. All you need to do is to call financial aid and get a definite date to pick up the refund and i hope that helps. Again, since you are already here go to the main campus at Forest Grove and get your ID card. They will issue you two different ID cards and it is better to do that early so as to avoid the rush period.

Refund check on what?

And thanks for the tip on getting our IDs early.

Thanks DannyPx! 👍 I will probably go and get my ID this week.

I went to Forest Grove and got my Student ID today.... it was soooooo easy. I was literally the only one there. If you have a chance, I would go and do it before all of the students get there. It will be one less thing to worry about right before classes start.

Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone has done the HIPAA training online yet because I couldn't find a place to sign in. Please help! I really appreciate it, thanks a lot!

I couldn't login to get it done either - my last name didn't work as my username, nor did my PUnet ID, nor my listed email... I have a sheet with info concerning it from my Orientation packet - but its still a no-go.

I am getting ready to do the big move on Monday... what an ordeal... my entire life fits in my 350z - and if you have ever seen the inside of one, you know how sad of a statement this is 🙁

I cannot believe the amount of stuff I got rid of... I have to buy back so much stuff. Oh well - Is anyone planning on taking advantage of our membership to Shute? I live right across the street - so hopefully I will be venting a lot of steam there - well, after the 3000 mile drive anyway...

Ok - done rambing - I have to finish packing / throwing my life's possessions away.

Membership to Shute?? OH oh.. hopefully I am not missing some info, because I have no idea what that means. Is it a gym or something?

I was able to sign into the HIPPA system. I just went to the website on the sheet of paper we received and my name and password worked. Hmm.. you'll probably have to call someone.

Good juck with the drive! I did a long one too, but at least you won't have too much stuff to unpack when you get there!

See you soon!!

So yesterday I finally finished painting my apt, assembling all of my furniture from IKEA, and did some grocery shopping. My bed is here so I finally got a good nights sleep. I had a "long" drive of 10 hrs and that was the easiest part.

Have a safe drive Seth and everyone else, hope your move is safe.

Stupid cable guy didn't have the proper equipment for install so now I'm waiting until Monday morning. I AM SOOOO BORED! (and tired). Nice weather though.

Monday morning I get my cable too. The weather is awesome though. Today I went to a "Garlic Festival' (they even had garlic ice cream), and I went to Cannon beach on the coast. AWESOME day and AWESOME weather!

Man - packing and moving is the worse - I just got done moving my brother and old roommate - I am now chilling at the parent's house until Sunday/Monday - then the great journey begins...

Is everyone using cable for internet??? How fast is the connection??? 1mBit, 2 or 3???

Shute is the community Gym / Aquatic center / park located like 4 blocks south of Pacific's CHP - and we all have free memberships to it. My apt is literally right across the street from it, so hopefully I will be spending a good bit of time there. I couldn't do the max - be missing it every morning - but I can do a 5 minute walk.

Glad everything is proceeding without serious headaches for everyone...

Eddie - nice going with IKEA - I am looking into getting some stuff for my room from them... What did you end up getting???

I cant wait to get to Oregon... Holla

My apt has T1 for $20/mo. Great deal and it was already wired. At Ikea, I got my bed, tables, dresser, desk, etc. It came out to $569. 🙁 No tax though and that's adding up everyday.

Furniture is one thing but going to Costco for another $150, Target for another $100 and I still have a ways to go. And the stupid airshow is causing all this traffic this weekend. Nice show I'm sure but the streets are all blocked.

And nice weather indeed although all I have been doing staying indoors setting up. I think I can get used to Hillsboro.

Hi everyone,

I have been reading through some of the messages on here and it has been helpful. I'm considering applying this fall for next year and would love to get some input from people that are in the program or just got in. How do you like the program? How are the professors? Is the program organized well, I'm concerned about that since it is a new program? What kind of experience did people have that got in? I have shadowed a lot of pharmacists but never actually worked in a pharmacy, but I have worked in hospital labs in the past and I'm currently a dietitian, so I have plenty of health care experience just not in a pharmacy. And any helpful advice on what they are looking for or suggestions for my application or interview would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

IKEA rocks the house! Even though we couldn't get into the parking lot and had to park in a nearby field, the store seems alot less crowded than the one in Renton. I bought a bright orange shower curtain. GO BEAVS!!!

Are you going to apply to Oregon State as well?

I'm actually only going to apply to Pacific this year, I figure if I don't get in this year I'll apply to more places next year but I'm not ready to move yet and I don't want to commute back and forth to Corvallis for another 2 years.

Hopefully a few people can answer my question. I am just wondering about the way Pacific grades. I believe that they do passing/no pass for their classes? Does this mean that there are no grade points? If so, wouldn't that affect being able to do a residency?

Thanks

I asked Jon-Erik this very question several weeks ago. Basically, he said they don't know yet how it will work out since they haven't had any students move on to residencies. He did seem confident it wouldn't be a serious issue and they would deal with it when necessary. Not exactly the answer I was looking for . . . does anyone else have any other info? In my dream world, Pacific would prepare a transcript with a straight 4.0!

You should ask USN students since we're using the same system and they've been around long enough to have students go into residencies.

I'm pretty sure they weigh more on your interview and your experience during school. Perhaps if you decide to work and intern at a hospital that specializes in your residency choice, it would look better than working at your local WAGs.

Residency is still 50/50 for me since I have different goals other than hospital work so I never really looked into it.
