Pacific University Oregon Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I will most likely be applying. Some of my science courses are older than seven years, but the site says they are "recommended" to be taken within that timeframe. I will have more recent upper-division coursework, so maybe that will help?

Hopefully it will. Well good luck. Have you already started on PharmCAS yet?

I made a username, etc. but haven't actually filled anything out. I've been spending my time getting to know my new boyfriend, Dr. Collins. After 6/19, I'll start inputting my 180-something attempted credits.😱

O wow. That's a lot of credits. Damn after the Summer I will have like 108 attempted hrs.

If anyone has questions, I am here to answer questions if needed. I am attending Pacific University in the Fall.

One of the most cheapest 3 year programs out there!

Hi,

I have a question about the minimum pharmacy related experience required for Pacific University Oregon School of Pharmacy...I have three months retail pharmacy experience from 2005...Is it too less to consider applyin to Pacific Uni? Thanks in advance

As far as I know, our school doesn't require volunteer hours anymore.

Anyone knows if the school is located in the mountains?

I am assuming that you are talking about Pacific University in Oregon and not UoP, which is located approximately 15-20 miles west of Portland. With that said, the school isn't located in the mountains.

Yes. This thread is for Pacific University and not UoP. OK I was not sure of the actual location. Thanks.

Applying here as well. For anyone who has been accepted, when do they begin interviewing usually? What do you recommend I do to prepare for the interview?

Ugh. I just saw the "calculate your last 45 credits GPA" piece on the supplemental worksheet.:bang:

My last 36 credits (earned after dropping out of school, then returning as an adult) are at a 4.0. The semester prior to that was in 2002 and is not great - there will be at least one F in there (I dropped out due to a slew of personal problems, including but not limited to getting a divorce way before I was ever old enough to get married in the first place). Crap.

If I have to go out of state, Pacific was one of my top choices. I am kind of a dirty hippie, and I heard that dirty hippies go over well in OR.

😕 :meanie:

Dirty hippie is code for tree-hugging vegan. If I wasn't going into a professional field, I would probably have dreadlocks and facial piercings. But due to my career aspirations, I look fairly mainstream.

Portland is the unofficial vegan capital of the world - I hear they even have a vegan strip club.😍

Lol. A vegan strip club? That's kinda odd. I was thinking of the facial piercings too but decided against them. Figured I have my ears pierced 4 times so that should be enough.

Hi guys! I'm applying here and only here! I am from Portland and yes there is a began stripclub and it rocks! Pacific is in hillsbouro which is outside of portland. I just finished my 201 attempted credits and ps and am requesting transcripts! Feel free to pm me if you have any questions about pdx!

What is pdx?

So, I haven't finished all of my pre reqs (have bio 2, micro, and A&P 2 left), gpa is 3.5 cum and 3.1 science and last 45 credits. I am requesting my transcripts next week. Anyone think that's too late?

Thanks!

i hab a question..for sullivan university do u hab to print out the application after you submitted online..cuz i pay for the app fee but i saw on the top tat u hab to print it out sign n mail it to them?

PharmCAS hasn't even begun mailing out applications yet, so it is not too late by any means. You should get it in soon though, as they will begin mailing apps out at the end of this month, and this school uses a rolling admissions procedure.

Then why not submit then?

It's still within good time. Just don't wait until the last minute. You want to make sure that your app is thorough and it will be stressful if you're stringent on time.

I am just trying to pay off one of the colleges I went to to be able to get my transcript 🙂 I probably won't be able to even request transcripts till next week! I feel like I am super late!

You should still be ok. I am not sure if this school uses a tier system like UoP, but I think you will be fine.

Yeah I don't think they use a tier system, but they still use rolling admissions so it is to your advantage to get it in early. To me, "early" will be all the way until September time frame. You're definitely not late right now.

To me, early was when I submitted mine a few weeks ago.😀

Pacific uses tiers now... As of this year. Admissions is evolving, particularly do to the switch to PharmCAS.

Well I guess that's good for me then! I don't know what the deadlines are for each tier since they don't discuss that on their website, they only say they use "rolling admissions", but either way, I think I'm safe since I've already submitted 👍

Do you have any info regarding that? The school does not state that on their website, at least not explicitly. I wonder if it's similar to UoP's? I need to get this done then.

Yeah, I couldn't find it on their website either, and I kinda feel like if there was a first tier deadline approaching, they would explain that loud and clear!
Best bet would be to call and confirm.

It can be said that applying early will increase your chances of getting in.

Applying early refers to:
1. Completed PharmCAS with GPA and all LOR's submitted.
2. Completed supplemental application.

Both these combined will not only give you the earliest interview date but it will also dramatically increase your chances of getting accepted post-interview based on your completed application.

Not really but it would be better to get PharmCAS out the way first since that tends to be the more tedious of the 2.

Oh wow, didn't know this at all. Thanks! I am going to start on the supp app now...
