I am also applying for Fall 2011.
My Science GPA is 3.8, my cumulative is 3.89 and my last 45 is 3.84.
I have some pharmacy experience, I worked at CVS for 3 months last summer.
I didn't even start the PharmCAS yet, I better get on it since I just read they are using rolling admission.
I don't know if my chances for this year are good because I still have 4 science courses to complete...

I think you'll be fine.

Anyone know: 1) when they sent first interview invites last year and 2) when we will know statistics for entering class of 2013?

Don't know about statistics but they started sending out invites by late September. This year their first interview isn't until November.

In person? Damn. I spoke to her via email and she seemed nice.
have you submitted yours. I'm waiting on 2 transcripts to get to pharmcas that I requested a week and 1/2 ago. My plan is to submit everything next week.

Not done with the supp app yet but PharmCAS has been completed about 6 weeks ago. Once I get done with my Orgo final this thursday I will be completing the supplemental stuff for this school.

Yeah I flew out there to tour the school. I'm trying to get the best grasp of all my potential schools so it will be easier for me to decide when it comes to decision time...IF I am fortunate enough to be offered seats at more than one school.
It's going to be tough comparing the four 3-year schools I'm applying to when they are all relatively the same cost, ya know? I know the in-state school is your top choice, but I'm still undecided! 😕

Good luck on your final, by the way! I must say, it feels FABULOUS to be done with O-chem! 😀

Sounds expensive though especially since it's not time for interviews yet.:scared:

Hey guys

I'm thinking of applying to this school also. I have a B.S. My GPA is not as smashing as most of you. I will not be done with my pre reqs until March. I have Chem II Physics Cal and Organic II left. Can I still apply throgh Pharmcas next month? Taking PCAT in October. After I apply through pharmcas what is the next step?
Thanks everyone! Goodluck!

please excuse typos. I'm typing from my palm : )

I'm applying to Pacific U Oregon as well ... and I'm super nervous! But I'm excited because I just submitted my PharmCAS :scared:  Good luck everyone!

Now onto the supplemental 😛

Go for it. Submit PharmCAS and then complete supplemental app.

Do you mind sharing your stats Mandy?

My PharmCAS cumulative GPA is 3.76, math/science is 3.82.

I won't have completed an undergraduate degree by the time of matriculation if I'm accepted the first time around.

I have been working as a pharmacy technician at the VA hospital for a year and a half, and have volunteered as a GED tutor at a youth services organization for 1 year.

So one more person with an over 3.70 cGPA to compete with.😡:meanie:

That's a great GPA! I am so worried I have NO pharmacy experience. I have completed my BS with a cGPA of 3.5 and sGPA of 3.1 and last 45 GPA of 3.1. I have stellar lors and over 3000 hours as a volunteer sexual assault advocate in which I was promoted to crisis line supervisor. I was a research assistant for a psychology lab for 2 years and in the emergency department for a year but I think the no pharmacy experience is gonna kill me!

I can't see how it will kill you. Lots of people have gotten accepted with no pharmacy experience.

Yes, pharmacy experience is a huge help, not going to deny that. Like Delano said though, your completed BS degree is a plus, and it sounds like your volunteer experience will be a huge plus.
Where you think that lack of pharmacy experience will kill you, I think that lack of a degree will kill me!! It just goes to show that they really look at the "whole person", and if we make up in certain areas for other areas that are lacking, we stand a greater chance. I believe my military service is one area that will help make up for the lack of a degree. If that doesn't show commitment, I don't know what does.
For you, I would keep trying to somehow get into a pharmacy. It is so important to them (and with very good reason) that you really know what is involved in the profession.

And me.

wouldn't it be steller if we all got the same interview date? Judging by last year we probably won't hear till early October huh? I am applying this year cause I finished my BS. I plan to find a pharmacy this fall to volunteer in case I don't get in this year. I have another question for you guys? I am currently an independent contractor doing some pretty alternative work but I do work 30+ hours a week. I'd rather not go into what I do on pharmcas but I don't want it to look like all I do is take 8 credits. Will it look bad if I'm vauge on the discription?

It could. You may want to account for those semesters where your courseload is less than 12-14 credit hrs (full time). It would look bad on your part to only take 8 credit hrs but don't state why. You don't need to go into so much detail about what you do exactly, but at least mention it.

Yes, dido to this. I think they will definitely want to know what else you were doing when you only took 8 credits.

It would be great if we could all get the same interview! But I'll be happy with any LOL. When I spoke with the Admissions rep, she said that the first interview will be November 13th, which is actually later than last year judging by last year's threads on SDN. It looks like last year they were notified by late September and the first interview was mid October.

This is gonna be a long waiting game from here on out.🙁

I haven't submitted my supplemental stuff for the school yet. They did let me know, however, that they received my PharmCAS app and are waiting for me to complete the supp app.

Is there a reason why you didn't apply to LECOM? I'm considering that school also. I must say that I am nervous. I've heard some Frightening things about LECOM Mercer and a few others. I suppose this is where my faith comes in.

Does it require a bachelors? PCAT? Location?

No, a B.S. Is not required. It's another 3 year pharmd program located in Pennsylvania. PCAT.... Lets see if I'm not mistaken they don't really place as much focus on the PCAT

I'll google the school and check it out.

It's in Pennsylvania...yes PCAT is required....no Bachelors is required. I think the reason why I didn't include this school in my potentials was because I couldn't handle that coldddd weather!!! Otherwise I probably would have. I definitely would have if their pther location in Florida was a 3-year program as well, but it's 4 years there.

I hate the cold weather as well.

I know!!!! Haha I am a Southern girl, I'll have to stock up on faux fur!

Every single app gets a fair eval... We would take into account course load and work load... as these are both important indicators of time management skills. Pacific requires a great deal more time management than a traditional 4 yr program, as Pacific is an accelerated program (nothing is left out).

Having a BS gives you a couple of points - but it wont change your overall score by all that much.

Glad to hear you are all getting your apps done. Earlier is best - the wait can be murder. I waited from November until June to finally get my acceptance - It was definitely worth the wait.

Good points. I didn't get to find out much about a tier system for this school.🙁

Oh, I'm glad you mentioned this, I forgot to tell you about this after my visit there! They don't do a "Tier" system like UoP where you have to have your application in by a certain date to meet a certain tier group. The way they use a tier system is if someone is invited to an interview and after the interview they are still deemed a good candidate, but not strong enough to be selected right away, they will be put on what is essentially a waiting list, and this waiting list is broken down into three different tiers. At the end of the application cycle, they will begin to pull from the wait list, and the likelihood that you will get pulled from that waiting list is dependent on what tier you are in. Tier one will be the most qualified (first to be picked), then tier 2, etc.
LOL...that was a lot...but you get the point!

Yea thanks for the clarification Mandy.😉

How do I find out statistics about the schools? Such as NAPLEX pass rate, number of applicants each year, and diversity.

To find the NAPLEX pass rates you would need to visit the NABP website. To find out the others you can visit the school's website. Not sure you will find much in terms of diversity but it should show the number of applicants per year among others.

Ok, thank you!

Has anyone emailed their personal statement to an accepted student on sdn?
Just curious....I'm still working on mine.

Did you already submit your PharmCAS app?

I was busy completing the supp app because I did not know I can start on it before submitting PharmCas... Anyway, I got both of them done... I submitted the PharmCas app on 08/10. Hopefully I can get in tier 2, or not too late...
Best of luck everyone!!! 🙂
