Parent has high income, but they aren't supporting me

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This thread is great for the P/S section of the MCAT. Gonna keep following it till my test next Friday.

Some people are employing Ethnocentrism by assuming their culture and way of doing things is right.

Others are using Cultural Relativism to emphasize the importance of understanding that there are cultural differences and thus, people have different ways of doing things. Shows high Cultural Competence if you ask me.

I am using In-group vs. Out-Group bias to shamelessly pick a side in this Economic Stratification discourse. I'd say we should be grateful that what we are dealing with Relative Poverty instead of it's Absolute counterpart.

...Can I be accepted to med school now?

One could argue that by bringing up people in absolute poverty into this argument that you’re using a red herring appeal to emotion.

iv been wondering the same thing. after growing up in a violent home, im literally paying for all the injuries I recieved when i was younger this past year from doctor visits and a few orthopedic surgeries.

out of contact with parents, but parents are high earners.

loans loans loans?!

Most of the people here seem to think that parents should not pay for medical school but should pay for undergraduate studies. I was of a similar mindset, so I cut myself a deal with my parents: I will turn down the fancy, prestigious undergraduate schools I have been accepted to in favor of my local state school where I have a full ride, and you will pay for my medical school. Ended up working out, no loans for me 🙂😉
