I wwas wondering if anyone knew the difficulty or nessesary procedure to go from a PA to a pedatrician doctor?
or if that is even possible? There are classes and admittance to a school required too but just wondering if anyone knows? 🙁

It is possible. But I think you would have to start from the beginning. I doubt there are any "fast-track" programs for PA's or NP's into medicine.

So assuming you took 1 year of physics, 1 year of biology, 1 year of inorganic chem, and 1 year of organic chem in undergrad (and other necessary pre-rec''s specific for certain med schools), you would need to take the MCAT. Once you do well on the MCAT you would apply to medical school. You would need to go to medical school for 4 years and then apply for a 3 year pediatric residency. You would need to obtain student loans for the 4 years of medical school (and any additional undergrad education for pre-rec's that you may not have), which could work out to over $200,000 over the 4 years.

So it is definately possible, but would be a long and difficult road. And I may be mistaken, but I would think that the responsibilites (and even the salary) may not be all that different between a PA and a pediatrician. ANd with the continual decline in physician reimbursement, the difference in salary between a pediatrician and PA may be evern smaller 7 years from now when you would be finishing residency.

I am curious, what is the reason you are considering changing over?
