First off...

My last semester of college, I took a super hard Molecular and Cellular biology class. I took it pass/fail because I was nervous I'd get a D, haha. I ended up getting a B, but of course was given a P for pass. I know that doesn't go towards my GPA, but do adcoms frown upon fass/fail? There's nothing I can do about it now, so I guess I'm just wondering. I'll have to make the best of it.

Secondly...

In that same semester, I TAed for Histology. The bio department considered TAing for Histology a 3 credit class, in which I got an A. Would I consider this part of my science GPA? Non science? I dunno.

Regarding TA'ing, I think it would depend on how the 3credits are listed in your transcript. When I TA'd microbio labs, it would be listed as a microbio credit in which case I get science and BCP GPA. If your histology TA credits are distributed under a science listing, then you would get BCP/Sci GPA

Yeah, the course was Bio 398A, so I think that would apply towards my BCP gpa. Just wasn't sure if there were rules about TAing. I think if you take something like a "Writing in Biology" class, those count towards the non-science GPA, so I wasn't sure it this was anything similar.

Any more thoughts on that, or on pass/fail courses on your transcript?

Yeah if it's listed at a BIO course than it should definitely count toward sci/bcp.

Pass/fail should okay. I think it'd be analogous to SU'ing a class. If you have a few, it probably won't hurt you. If you have a ton, then it may be a red flag. So as long as you don't rack up too many you should be golden!

Agreed with above. Although, do be prepared to explain WHY you did a P/F in a course, as they might ask you even if it is just one course

Ha. I guess I better get a better answer together. So if I ever got asked in an interview, I wouldn't have to say it was because I was afraid I'd get a D.
