passing biochem shelf

We took the biochem shelf today. I've done fine on all of our class exams so far, but I walked out of the shelf feeling like I knew about ten questions out of 130. I don't need to ace it, but I do need to get the 15th percentile or whatever is passing this year. How hard is it to pass?

did you use any review books? brs biochem was pretty good, as were lippincott's and the Pretest Biochem. based on my school, if you were able to get ~50-60% of the Pretest q's correct, you could comfortably pass (and probably do pretty well on) the shelf. good luck. 👍

We only had a couple days to study for it and our biochem instructor advised us to study our notes instead of the review books, so I foolishly took his advice.

I think everyone walks out of these things feeling this way. I know I always do, but I've never failed one if that makes you feel better. Step I is the same way. BTW, is that 15% what your school told you? Because the national board fail rate isn't anywhere near that high (it's more like <2.5% or 2 sd's below the mean). My M1 class had 2/110 fail the thing, and those two were already failing the class anyway.

I think rhiannon meant in order to pass, they need to score in at least the 15th percentile of the nation.
