hello apollyon
Hey lady - what's up?
hello apollyon
I'm sort of on the fence. Yes, there are horror stories about how it used to be. But there are plenty of bad stories about how it is now. The only thing I think it does is centralize the time at which people go. And very rarely are people left out of spots they want. Just like in the real world, people might not get the job they want, but they rarely get one that they didn't apply for. And sometimes, they have to work at Burger King for a year and try again.
Hey lady - what's up?
I'll let you in on a secret. Izzy doesn't go inside.
Good attitude but there are plenty of people who dont match and even more who dont match in fields they want.
Oh now...hi Todd!
highlight of my day.. FSU lost.. makes it a decent day..
Hello. I'm picking up my land cruiser on saturday. Any objections to me posting periodic updates/pics progress?
You can't paint it red. Other than that, you should ask us for suggestions. Then it can be the forum Cruiser.
Yes, but that usually isn't because of the system. It is because they didn't apply to enough programs, or they didn't rank correctly.
Every year there are hospitals that have to scramble, and usually that is for the same reason.
If you look at all fields but plastics, rad-onc, derm, and radiology, as long as you hit the minimum number of programs, you will get a spot (unless you have an Axis II disorder, or an Axis I that you can't hide during the interview).
Or unless you are doing the couples match.

Who is making you watch it?
Dodger's lost. I feel sad.
I bet my LA buddy $500 that no LA team in Bball or baseball will win the championship in the next 10 yrs.. im lookin good.
Add urology and others. Dont be fooled into a false sense of security.. Many people didnt match cause they werent "smart" enough.. anyways i dont want to argue too much.. im just saying i dont agree.
Well, that's one of those tough things. I don't think that the world would be any less competitive if the match didn't exist. And thus, people with lower GPAs and board scores wouldn't get into residencies regardless. Similar to how people try to get jobs at really nice firms. If you don't have the shiny paperwork, you aren't getting in. There aren't enough to go around.
All I'm saying is that if you had the scores to get 10 ranks, you got a spot greater than 99% (475 of 477) of the time in EM last year. With 8 ranks, you only went down to 736 of 746.
So, um, next time I decide to take a fellow IM football player down I should choose more carefully. A guy who is 5'10" and about 170 is probably NOT a good choice for me.
I got up off the ground faster than him and his teammates were apparently yelling at him that he was embarassing them!!!
Well, I did worse once. Other team got their assignments messed up and somehow Roy was defending against me. Roy was about 4'10" and weighed maybe 80 or less. I told him to get out of the way, I didn't want to hurt him. So the ball was snapped and he rolled himself into a ball. I tripped over him and fell flat on my face.😳
He didn't try that twice though.
I've done that before. Smacked my head into a cupboard door and fell flat on my back.At least I cleared my own c-spine 🙂.
got off early today (on my pager, but at home) 🙂
almost kinda makes up for the fact that I have to spend 4 hrs of tomorrow representing my program at a residency fair.
Hey, Mom. 🙂 Good luck at the fair. Bring lots of candy.
