I have a feeling SoCute will no likey clinic as well!

Most EM folks no likey clinic. That being said, I much prefer night clinic which is all actue visits all the time to the horror that is the day's primary care clinic. I just don't like working a whole day of clinic and then going to night clinic. But then, I am a M4 and I am lazy. 😎

Good reason to be lazy.

It's funny, I'm doing a month of ortho right now. Two weeks in, I've scrubbed in only twice. The rest of the time I'm in clinic, which KILLS ME! I don't even get to splint since there are techs who can do it better and faster than I can. Clinic in the morning, clinic in the afternoon. That's my schedule right now.

Are you SERIOUS? That's ICKY. Why can't they let you scrub in?

Damn, that blows! I'd beg for more OR time to get out of clinic. My last 2 months of 4th year are required clinic crap. By then I will just be showing up physically and not mentally.

Leaving tomorrow for my last interview at Maryland on Weds! Yay!

It's not that they won't let me scrub in, there's just a shortage of procedures. Trauma is low during the winter months in Chicago, so most of the procedures are elective (knee replacements, scopes, hip replacements). I was hoping to get more experience with EM style ortho, but like I said, there is little trauma this time of year.

Sigh...Chicago needs a good ice storm 😉

I'll probably scrub in to a few cases tomorrow, but being in the OR quickly loses it's value since I'm second assist and feel too much like a 3rd year in there. It is kinda cool wearing the space suits for the total knees and hips. 😀

Oh and SolidGold, enjoy MD. That place is sweet. I'm having issues trying to get the first half of my list b/c of awesome places like MD.

I avoided the ortho OR at all costs b/c we have so many damn ortho PAs that get to be first/second/third assist that I didn't even bother to scrub in. BORING.

Which is too bad b/c I really wanted to do some drilling and bone sawing. Ah well...I did plenty of sawing on my vascular surgery rotation. Weeee for BKAs and AKAs!

You know, you're a little too excited about dismembering someone.

Dude insist on doing splints. WHO CARES if you are slow. It is a very useful skill. seeing post op patients is usually a waste of your time.

Here we have techs who splint but I learned a lot during ortho on proper splinting. Dont trust the techs.. the orthopods here dont.

BKAs... AKAs.. no shortage of bad bone going to waste..

😴 time...Have to see lots of kiddos tomorrow. Will be really exhausted tomorrow night.

Video of what?
Seriously, some of our medical school videos involve porn. Ok, it is usually for psychiatry, but still. PRON!!!1!

I survived my day of kiddos!!! yay!!!

Coldest day in Chicago that I remember in a long time. Makes my Chicago programs drop further on the ROL! 😛

Oh, and I just looked at the temp. Wind chill makes it 3 degrees outside. The cold wins this round. My motivation to finally start going back to the gym tonight just got frozen to death by the thought of walking outside.

We are one day closer to the SuperBowl! Hellz yeah! Plans are shaping up nicely this weekend. My much beloved bean dip will be made for the first time in a year (it's for special occasions ONLY!) There will be much beer to be consumed. GO BEARS!!!!

+pad+ from Saginaw, Michigan after a 7 hr drive

Post snowing in Baltimore +pad+

I love it. I still get asked why I want to leave FL on the interview trail. It's because it's Heaven's waiting room, i'm tired of one season, and boarding up for hurricanes most years suck.

Now, if I can just get my hotel's toilet to stop running, I might be able to get to sleep.

Did you get your share of wings?

Did you get your share of wings?

Yep. I'm glad this is the last interview, because now I can force myself to go to the gym to lose the 12 pounds i've gained eating all the free dinners and beer, breakfasts, and lunches they feed us.

Tell me about it. I have no excuse to NOT go anymore. Well, except that it's like 3 degrees outside right now.

Where is everyone? Don't you know that you are all supposed to ENTERTAIN me?!?!?

I'm here....but I don't know how entertaining I will be.

GRRRRRR....

Seriously. Everyone is sleeping or "doing their physical diagnosis writeup." WTF? School? We don't do that ****...oh wait...nm.
