Is reviewing pathoma well enough to at least pass Step 1? I have to pass a practice test provided by my school in a few weeks and I need to pass so I don't have to retake it. I feel like knowing pathoma might be the best use of my time right now as it will also provide me with a good background once I start hardcore board prep in early April.

I wasn't retaining a lot just reading first aid. Pathoma allows me to write and listen which makes it stick more for me. There is also more explanation.

I think I need a better understanding before I move on to rote memorization of first. I'm far from the best student.

I don't think Pathoma alone is enough to pass Step 1, You will definitely need UW along with it.

OP is just trying to pass school CBSSA. Pathoma is good enough to pass if you have a decent knowledge base. You can do a slow thorough pass in < two weeks, so you'll have time to move on to FA, which will hopefully be more accessible after some quality sattar time.

My advice:
Do pathoma -> Fill out First Aid
Then do Uworld -> Fill out First Aid
Then do Robbins Questions -> Fill out First Aid
In between, squeeze in an NBME every 3 weeks to see if you're rising

The realistic answer...NO. Pathoma is not enough to pass. You need at least FA memorized to just pass. But to get a good score that needs dedication. Also UW questions are highly recommended. You must do practice questions in order to really understand how the exam will question you and to familiarize yourself with the format.

Pathoma is great for pathology/pathophys and some immuno. However, using it solely as your source of review for the practice test might not be a good idea because you're missing reviews for micro, biochem, pharm, and some physio.

If you only watch pathoma and passed, then you definitly would have passed without it.
