I always like seeing people's reaction when they take my BP. I normally run around 96/60 and everyone always asks "Are you feeling OK?" :meanie:

+pad+

That used to be normal for me, too. I'm not sure if med school or some other health problems are more to blame for the fact that I'm now mildly hypertensive. 😡

I ran a marathon once (ONCE! Then I regained my sense of sanity) but I have played soccer and hiked for as long as I can remember.

Im at Chicago. I hope you start feeling better. The CS is the most ridiculous exam EVER! (which is saying a lot)!

Looks like we may get to meet on Monday! I'm the tall fat chick. 🙂

Hopefully I will be able to talk by then. 😱

Yeah, but I bet you don't have a resting HR of 48.

My resting HR used to be 15-20 (complete AV block). Then I got a pacemaker. :meanie:

Now it is never ever less than 60. 😀

medschool wasn't that bad for my health but residency sure has been 🙁

Damn....I almost got a dose of atropine from an overzealous paramedic student one time when I got kicked in the chest by my mothers horse. He saw the slow bradycardia with PVC's and was like "Oh crap....we need to raise your heart rate".

"Not unless you want to assume the position at the hospital so the doc can pull that prefill out of your ass."

Great. Things to look forward to.

Actually, I apparently started falling apart when I turned 32. Seems to have stabilized now. 😉

32....it only gets worse....

Great . . . As if it wasn't hard enough being a 32 year old M1.

I've got news for you. It's not that easy being a 24 y/o MS1!!!

i would do almost anything to have my health at 24!!!!

I hear that! I never woke up sore. I could eat or drink anything. I was blissfully ignorant of insurance, copays, etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm still in fair shape (110/70 HR=52 BMI 24). Thing just aren't as easy as they used to be (except buying ETOH <-- may be part of the problem).

Yes, well, I was a little tough on my body as a teenager, so my joints have already taken a beating.

I'm there with you. This is the third time this year I've been sick. I was standing at a patient's bed last night, shaking from a fever and trying desperately to feel some smidgen of sympathy for "my strange son is acting strange". It wasn't forthcoming.

Yuck.

I suspect off-service rotations are the culprit. Even if I have no evidence to support this claim, it makes me feel a little better so I'm sticking to it.

Take care,
Jeff

I'm sick too... there's a bug sweeping the city, and I've seen dozens of kids with it. So I knew it was only a matter of time.

There's something to be said for nice nurses and easily accessible zofran ODT. 👍 Ralphing on the floor of a patient room isn't the best option - but I know where every trashcan in the peds ED is now. Sigh. Thankfully, I'm past that part and on to the congestion/wanna-rip-my-lungs-out-cough.

At least it's warm here. That helps a lot. When it's bitterly cold out and I'm sick, I feel even more miserable.

Socute - at least they didn't make you stick your face in! (One of my buddies did that, but the prof pulled him out when his pulse hit 40 bpm. Yay for the diving seal reflex!)

I actually really didn't mind sticking my hand in. Just didn't bother me. Hence the dropping bp, I guess.

I think I'm moving onto the cough too, but I am so sorry you were puking all over the ED. 🙁 I didn't have that at all.

Oh and Sake Bombs.. Im gonna put a hurtin on tonite 🙂

Lets see if I can wake up tomorrow without feeling like I died!

Rumor is 10K posts... Thats per DrMom (a mod)! But we can restart cant we?!!!

Missed a few days due to studying physio, biochem and path and 9 pages of reading later almost caught up...whew!!!! BTW my small contribution to +pad+

What year are you there? Know that ER very well, used to bring in pts(up until Aug) there; got to know which bathrooms where "safe" to use.... can be very interesting........have very fond memories of "holding the wall" for many a hour 😴 waiting for a bed and studying organic chem while watching my pt/pts....

That was the ending of Wed. nights lost. A tv show that if you are not watching I honestly feel sorry for you. (though you probably have a more active social life then I)
The depth of it's mysteries and hidden clues is completely unheard of in television and the way it is useing the internet do further the mystery and provide more clues is amazing.

You know, today is one of those days where I wish I went to DO school so that I could have one of my colleagues manipulate me. Have this damn pinched nerve - probably C7 or C8. It's driving me NUTS.

Hey. I absolutely Lost and have no social life. I have been disappointed in the internet aspect though. What sites have you been looking at?

PS We should move this over to Path's Lost thread 😉

Actually, the manipulation is a big plus. My best med school friend was our class' "OMT guru" so I got lots of great manipulation. 😀

I'm an admin, not a mod 😉
And, yes, we close threads at 10K b/c the big threads really stress our database & servers. Of course, just like some threads in the lounge, you can start some kind of "path's lead is shrinking part 2" thread. 🙂

DrMom - you may not be the person to ask, but I really don't want to start a thread on this in the osteo forum right now (too lazy). Do you know of any allopathic students who have done an elective in OMT at an osteopathic school? It's something I really would like to learn!

What? You don't?

It's one of my twice-weekly budgeted trips to Starbucks. YAY for mocha!!

Well, by then it'll be gone! And we can work on trying to take over the "General Residency Forums" thread!!!

I know there's some kind of program at Harvard, but I'm not sure about other schools. There are definitely programs for MD's out school to learn OMT, although they aren't cheap. We have an OMT instructor at my school who is an MD who went through these programs after she'd been practicing for a while. (after she was in an MVA, OMT was the only thing that helped her so she wanted to go learn for herself)

You could always call the FP/OMT dept of a couple of DO schools and ask...who knows: you may even run into someone who'd be willing to put something together for you.

A couple weeks ago we were laughing because one of my classmates remarked that a DO school might be the only place where is it perfectly normal (and encouraged) for students to physically touch other students in the middle of the hall, library study rooms, etc.

One of my friends told me that a lot of the girls going to osteo school have hot bodies because they work out because they have to take their shirts off (leave sports bras on) for OMM. I wonder if this goes for the guys too!?

Is there OMT for hangovers... Ouch! Wild debauchery ensued immediately after our dinner. Got to sleep quite late.. it had been a little while since I partied like that!

+pad+ to update our stats.. Mad requests..
Looks like another solid day.
Us - 32,570
Them - 35,044

The difference is 2474
Strong work everyone another goal accomplished. Can we get to 2000 by the end of the month?

Dude...IHOP.

My med school friends and I are doing IHOP tomorrow AM. After a rough night of...studying?? Oh G-d, we really are nerds.
