Oh well.. Congrats to the Gates.. Intersting final 4 to say the least. I doubt anyone in the whole country had this final 4!

LSU UCLA Florida and George Freakin Mason?

From the rankings.. Who is left?

# 8, #10, #18 and a team not among the top 43!

Really, no joke I picked George Mason to go all the way this year. I'm just very good at predicting stuff like this.

Really how about the rest of the final 4 did you have them as well? 🙂

Actually only had one of them, bah, i'm normal just like everyone else, maybe next year I will pick UAB to win it all and they just might!

perfect timing, my blade is pretty dull.

Cant go wrong with free in my opinion.

You better let that puppy grow then cause it is 4-6 weeks.. IIRC

Well I guess I do post useful things on occasion then! 🙂

So my role today, part painter, part electrician... ARGH... this sux!

prob 2 more half days.. Gotta cut, lay and paint baseboard and then paint our bedroom.

Def NOT.. BTW we bought a house in Tucson 🙂 Outside of painting we will pay someone to do the work. The house needs new floors.. thats gonna be costly.

DrMom I hope all is well with you!

All's just fine here. I start my last rotation tomorrow. 😀

👍 on the house

We're toying with the idea of moving within town...which would mean that we'd have to do various fix-ups in the current house. Not sure we're up to the whole selling/moving process at this point since we don't actually have to move.

I love my current house but the daily Chicago to Tucson commute could be tough. So we decided to move.. The new house needs a lot of work. We want to raise the sunken dining room, all new floors, 2 new bathrooms, a new kitchen and a pool (we would love one), oh and dont forget we need to buy a washer and dryer. Clearly this is gonna be $$$ but over 3-5 years we should be able to do it!

DrMom become an attending and then move..

But I have a near Middle Schooler who'd love to have a pool *sigh*

So far my radiholiday rotation is living up to its reputation 👍

Awww...she'd be the most popular middle schooler on the block. But if she's half as nice as you, I'm sure she already is!

Oh wait, "nice" has nothing to do with having friends in middle school. I forgot!! YOU NEED THE POOL!!

On another note, guess who submitted her summer research fellowship application today?! Aw yeah baby! Nothing like an inner city ED in the heat of summer!

On another note, the PD said that I was welcome to start visiting as a research assistant on a project (that I'm SUPER interested in!) whenever I want since I've already done all the human subjects protection stuff!!!

To completely ice the cake, the PD and I have really similar research interests. When I was getting ready for my meeting with him I was brainstorming ideas and one crossed my mind, but I sort of wrote it off because I thought it would be too much work for one person. He proposed the same idea in our meeting!!!!

 Heck, I'd enjoy the pool when I get home from the hospital 😀

We've wanted to move for a while. We've been in this house for 12 years & are ready to move on for a variety of reasons.

Of course, now Little Miss DrMom has figured out that if we wait a few more years we can buy something better than if we move now...she's actually campaigning to stay here.

Just wanted to point out that although we have not stayed on top of the General Residency Domination front, we are kicking some Path @$$. I eyeballed it and we are 4-5K AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You could spend wisely once you have the salary, save up, and split the difference - 2 years of residency in your current house, 2 years in a new place. That would give you two extra years of appreciation on the current house, and you could probably get some sweat equity in there too 🙂.

That's what I'm hoping to find time for this summer: some sweat equity into my condo. My mom has this GORGEOUS tile left over from the ridiculously nice house they built, so I can put that in the kitchen. I think I want to regrout the bathroom floor, and put a new (pedastal) sink in with a pretty medicine cabinet above it. The best part is, since my parents co-own they will front the cash and just take the expenses out of the profit 🙂.

If I get really ambitious I may refinish the floors - they are parquet, so a bit dated, but a pretty color of wood and other than some surface scratches they are in amazing shape.

I smell a future doctor, delaying gratification for greater gain in the future. I think she has this figured out already.

Path had their moment and now we are rightfully in our place.. On top of the mountain!

My sweat equity better pay off. We could use the money, maybe we will throw a pool in our place. You know its hot in the desert.

BTW even though I absolutely hate the Gators.. I do want to congratulate them for what will be a championship in about 1 hour..

She has serious plans of becoming a veterinarian. 🙂

That makes getting into med school look like getting into community college. Good luck to her. 🙂 Maybe BKNs wife can hook her up!

I'll send Little Miss DrMom to your house, then 😀
You gonna send her to help us put the pool in? We gotta do the floors, and both bathrooms and get the Fetus PS3 and a nice TV beforehand.. well thats my plan at least I think the wife is more concerned about the floors and bathrooms 🙂

Send her to my house, it comes with a pool and a veterinarian🙂

Man the attendings have it good and to top it off they will baby sit!

BKN how many animals do you have? I would imagine a vet would want quite a few..

BTW I thought I would share this with my extended family (you guys).. I found out yest I passed Step 2 CS. 😀 All thats left between me and tucson is my medicine sub-I and of course finding a mover 😀

I don't know, she won't tell me.

It's not a matter of wanting quite a few. She just can't kill a perfectly good pet because the owners got tired of them. So she accepts the euthanasia fee as a donation, gets them to sign a release and tries to find the animal a new home. We end up with the losers.

So one day i got curious. I counted the legs and divided by four-that didn't work, too many amputees, including a double. I counted the eyes and divided by two, that didn't work either. Then I tried counting the brains - but I forgot about the two kittys without a cerebellum between 'em. I married a saint, I try to be worthy.

So, on your way to AZ, no? Stop by, we'll set you up with a couple of old, tired, not particulalry friendly, felines for pets.

Oh yeah, congrats on CK🙂 .

Me too, I was having all my mail sent to my father's place, and he called and said I passed some test I took on feb. 9th haha.

I hate cats with a passion and the CEO (as I like to refer to her) is allergic (you know throat closing etc.), we both love dogs and once we arrive in AZ we will be looking to adopt.

BTW I am proof positive that you can pass CS without seeing a real patient for 3-4 months. After I did EM in Sept I spent Oct, Nov, Dec and Jan basically doing things like MICU (intubated patients), Gas and Rads. No H&Ps but I guess 3-4 hours of reading was enough!

I took mine Jan 23rd and I heard like 2 days ago.. Interesting that you heard the same time I did when I took it like 2 weeks before you.
