are you suggesting this thread be made a sticky? 😛

OMG can i just tell you how much scut this hospital have? everything needs to be filled out in some sort of duplicate or triplicate form. and don't even get me started on the number of forms for orders. blegh. i hate red tape.

repeat forms suck. Thats why EM is good, you do it then move on! And I would definitely like to shake the hands of the man in ED that invented the T-sheets, even though in residency some places you don't use them and you end up dictating, I think for the field its great.

The first place I saw forms like this was in EM where you just mark with a line, and now even my internal medicine program has a "Basic H&P" sheet they make us fill out for each admit, where for the ROS you just circle the stuff, and boxes to put the medical hx and stuff in. And we are one of the 'newest' fields!!!

Don't worry, EM will lead the way to paperwork (or no paperwork)!

sitting twiddling my thumbs is ruining my day. 😀

Only if you actually made a purchase at VS. If so, mad productivity. 😛 (Though I feel much more productive ordering from the catalog... more things to buy (i.e. more productivity).)

Totally counts as mad productive!

meanwhile, i'm going to start a list of all the ways the hospital i'm at is making working there frustrating and mind numbing (aside from the duplicate and triplicate varied forms for butt cream). by the end of the year i have a feeling i'll be so ready to leave you could send me to mahach-kala and i wouldnt care (that's in mongolia, right? my geography kinda sucks)

Blah...feeling a little low today despite:
a) Just getting my final (excellent) grade for first year - officially confirming that I am now a 2nd year
b) The promise of a date tomorrow night that while not with the most exciting guy in town, certainly a nice, quality guy
c) A great summer internship.

Grr....I need to stop whining.

Hmmm.....I could get money from the government of Australia to research jellyfish envenomation.

Ah, the opportunites you learn about from people while drinking with them.

If they throw in a nice Aussie girl to sweeten the deal, I might just look into it....but only because socute has shot me down 🙁

😉

If it gets you a trip down under it would be hard to refuse.

Waiting for my 1st bit of work since officially becoming an "MD".. Shift starts at 11P.. 105 mins from now.. 🙂

Socute the whole process is filled with ups and downs.. Keep your head up and like my favorite saying "Keep your eye on the prize."

Get some rest.. tomorrow is a new (and hopefully better) day.

Ugh. I have the worst headache....

and I am so tired of working... and my per diem shift on sunday just got extended to a 12 hour because we are short. *sigh*

You have to remember what he wants me to study- a hard to see, effectively transparent gelatinous blob that can kill a grown man who is unlucky enough to swim into it. Sounds like a spectacular reason to take a trip down under- where the men are men, the sheep run scared and the only thing that does not try to eat, sting, bite, or otherwise maul you are the goddamnned koalas on a good day (or would that be "on a g'day"? )- but then again, the good beer, hot women, and beautiful scenery seem to argue for the trip.

I know that if I wanted to learn anything about a creature like that I would definitely have someone else find it out for me.

Yeah so I think the decision isnt a tough one... I might be there myself in a few years..

The Good:
Man so 1st shift last night... Tubed a guy (1st one in the ED). Nutty pathology (psych) and lots of weird presentations.

The Bad.. People keep calling my house and some unknown person actually rang my doorbell. I only got 4.5 hours of sleep and I work the overnight again tonite.

Overall I know that I made the right decision..

The prof I am talking to wound up (along with one of his coworkers) being filmed for a Discovery Channel program writhing in pain after being stung accidentally. But I agree.....someone else is catching these critters.

U stick to catching other things at the beach...😀
