PCCM Job Market for IMGs

Hi everyone,

I'm an IMG (MBBS from India) who is currently a PGY-1 in an IM residency program in the US. I'm leaning towards PCCM and was wondering how my status as an IMG would affect my job offers after a PCCM fellowship. I have family in the midwest so in an ideal world I'd love to be at mid-tier PCCM fellowship (Med College of Wisconsin, Northeast Ohio, etc).

Would my being an IMG affect geographical choice (hoping to find jobs in the northeast eventual) or salary?

Being an IMG will have no impact on finding jobs or compensation as an attending, but it will be significantly more difficult to match into a fellowship. Whether you need a visa might impact ability to find an attending job. Those J waivers are often hard to come by.
