Hi all,

There seems to be a dearth of information regarding transportation options for PCOM in Philadelphia. Obviously the public transit is one option, but I was wondering if the school provided a shuttle to/from Center City to the Campus (about 20 minutes north). I’ve seen some posts regarding the existence of a shuttle, however, I haven’t been able to find any detailed information.

Thanks for the help.

There is no shuttle. Most live around PCOM or in Manayunk. Not many live in Center City that I know but I am sure that some do. You are responsible for your own transportation.

Yea, the transportation from that spot of the city isn’t great. But Manayunk is one of my favorite places in PA. I intend to live there myself.

I lived in Manayunk for years, right on Main St with private parking. Its probably the best spot. You are a 5 min drive from schools (actual 5 min, not a sarcastic 5 min). There is a strip of restaurants, bars, and shops on Main st, as well as a movie theater. You can catch cabs if you're not an uber/lyft person consistently right there on main st any time. There are also bus routes that go through Main st all day every day. You can also get to the Wissahickon stop on Ridge Ave or from Main St at one side of Manayunk, and the Manayunk stop on the other side like 1-2 blocks off of Main st. You have great access to 76 if you're trying to go elsewhere. While parking can be a nuisance sometimes, there is usually enough parking for wherever you live, and it's not like the rest of the city. Some of the area is also suburbs-ish and may even include private parking, a garage, or other off-street parking.

Isn't that a really expensive area to live in? Especially when relying on student loans?

Not really. Especially if you're not opposed to roommates. It's highly a college area with PhilaU/Jefferson East falls around the corner as well as St Joes. Drexel Med is like 2 miles away and PCOM is right up the road.

Going off MusicDOc124’s comment, it’s not that bad relative to the rest of that area. Take a quick drive up to central and northern bucks county and you’ll see that.

Manayunk is (or at least seems to me) to be mostly young adults from college aged to upper 20s and early 30s.
