...Sadly, several people share the sentiments of not supporting the school...Alot of my fellow classmates and alumni fail to see that someday things will change if we work to change them. By being unsupportive of the school, you are really doing all of Appalachia a disservice. BTW, supporting the school does not have to be financial...
Well said...
I just wanted to add:
1) Every school has its problems but the crap PCSOM students bitch about are minor (Missing skull, anyone?)
😉. Hang out in the 'international forums' a bit and you'll know what I'm talkin about.
2) Giving your school a bad rep only cheapens your own degree.
3) PCSOM hooks its students up. It's one of only two schools in the country which provides a Dell laptop computer, all required textbooks and workbooks, all necessary anatomy dissection equipment, a new portable OP&P table, a stethoscope, an ophthalmoscope, an otoscope, all lab coats & scrub suits, the use of a PCSOM microscope for the first two years, all SOMA and KOMA dues as well as the costs of taking Parts I and II of the COMLEX. That is HUGE! And the tuition is still under the nat. average for all DO schools. Not only are they paying for your SOMA fees, but for the past few years the school's taken care of room and transportation for SOMA conventions (a RARITY).
There are definitely some cons to the school, but not enough for me to not contribute in the future for all the opportunities the school's already provided so far. I think a few cynics forget that they wouldn't be in the position they are in right now if it wasn't for the oppportunities PCSOM has created for them.
Yeah it would've been cool to get a Littman stethescope and an OPP table that didn't tip on all 2 of the hundreds of techniques we learn.
🙄
But just by accepting you, PCSOM pretty much guarantees you a 6 fig salary the rest of your life as long as you study...
