PDA placement?

Just a quick question:

I'm a third year on the third day of my surgery clerkship. On the schedule for tomorrow one of the procedures I'm scrubbing in on says "PDA placement." Any idea what that is? I've tried to look it up but have not had any luck.

Strange - was this a peds surg case? I've heard of PDA ligation, and placement of a catheter for PDA occlusion...not sure what else it could be.

I'm not sure if it's a peds case or not... I was post call and totally delirious when I looked at it today. Guess I will find out tomorrow Thanks for your help!

I swear this is post-call talking, but the first thing I thought of when I saw the title is, "On your hip!"
