yeah our PD said we got something like ~130+ applicants for 2 spots. sounds like this year will be similar to last because of everything still being virtual.

Typically yes, some programs have several rounds of interviews. I personally haven't gotten any yet (and I applied to a bunch), so just gotta be patient and send some prayers up.

No! Stay positive, looks like last year's thread interviews came until mid-September? It's a slow rollout process. Depends on where you applied and which round of interview you are getting.

I’ve only heard from 1 place too. I am starting to panic a little I won’t lie, especially with friends applying to other specialties who have tons of interviews already! 🙁 how different can PEM really be?

Different. Just look at the SDN threads - the PEM interview thread has about 12 k views, while all the other ones have 2k views. I've only gotten 2 rejections and no invites - it's a brutally competitive field. Gotta be patient but also plan for the very real possibility of not matching. Happened to me last year.
 
I’m starting to think that this year is more competitive than last year? Last year by this time, I at least had 2 interviews…. I currently have 0 right now. Having more applicants with the same number of spots does not work in my favor 🙁

Congrats! Was really hoping to get one from INOVA
 
The truth is that last year there were 293 applicants for 200 spots. It was brutal. Lots of very strong applicants somehow ended up unmatched. Many of those 93 unmatched folks are reapplying this year in addition to folks who are newly eligible AND lots of folks are applying even more broadly because A. Virtual is free B. Last year was terrifying.

I followed up with a program I’m very interested in and it sounds like lots of programs are having a difficult time making it through the volume of applications and offering interviews.

By volume it is probably going to be a tough year. But we long as we do as much as we can to support each other (don’t hoard interviews at places we aren’t truly interested in) it will hopefully work out.

So I guess this is it until Monday? MyERAS says that they will be doing maintenance starting tomorrow morning. I have to admit guys, i’m a bit disappointed :/

For those with experience, is no news good news? Do programs reject you or is there a lull?

don’t know if I should be optimistic or start prepping a contingency.
