Pretty ridiculous. As someone who didn't match last year and is reapplying, it's nice because now I'm expecting not to match, but also man it feels like I have to be some sort of superstar to go into PEM, and that feels crappy.

How many interviews, if you don’t mind saying, do people have?

I have 3 so far, and applied to about 24 (most of which have sent out interview invites). A month in without that many interviews is probably a bad sign. Guess I need to start contingency planning.

I have 3. Applied to 20. Only 4 of my programs have not sent out interviews (per this forum). I’m just hoping I’ll make the cut in the second round of invites 🤞🏻

they’ve sent out rejections, FWIW. I’m just hoping for second round invites at this point. Maybe even 3rd.

Really? Per our list it didn’t look like Boston, CHOP or Pitt had. I think (read: hope) that there will be a good bit of movement this year with so many applicants and people applying so broadly. We’ll see I guess.
 
Sorry for not clarifying, I’ve received rejections from Children’s National and Boston thus far. But I worded it poorly. Sorry to cause confusion!!
 
I wish they would send invites already. Top choices in that group and trying to coordinate them is going to be a nightmare if they don’t come soon
 
If y’all wanna hear trauma there is one program in one of the states my wife (who is also applying for fellowship) wants to go to. That was my first rejection. 😂

I think it depends on your application and what institution you're coming from.

Last year, I applied to 40 programs, got 6 interviews all of which I ranked, and I didn't match. Im a US IMG and trained at a non-university affiliated residency without a free standing children's hospital/ER.

I think since interviews are virtual and people are very nervous about not matching, all the top tier candidates who were offered interviews probably didn’t reject any, so now everything is full already. kinda suck for those of us that are average candidates :/
