its funny to think that the decision is already made. in some excel file in philly, my name is on some sort of column or mailing list that denotes my fate for the next 8 years. woooo!!

I just went to the MD admissions office (since they're responsible for posting the decisions) and they were even less optimistic. All they told me was that decisions were currently "on hold" (whatever that means) and would be posted "some time by Friday."

A warning to Penn: my donation dollars are shrinking by the second :p!
 
This happens every year. They always miss whatever estimates the applicants are given. Sometimes by a few days, sometimes by a few weeks. They're particularly late this year. I wonder what's going on...

I applied to be a student adcom one year and was rejected, so I guess I'll never know :)

Yes, we were given an initial date of 3/19 but at least they officially covered their bases by changing the date to "by 3/30"

I think some penalty should be enforced like the FAA does to airlines.
 
In my opinion, Penn's "fishing" for letters of interest/intent combined with their late (and now extremely late) decision date is pretty lame. This puts all the students who have committed to a second visit to other institutions in an extremely awkward position if they get in. It seems as if Penn wants their interested applicants to put all their eggs in one basket - theirs.

I've already committed to Columbia's revisit. The more Penn makes me wait, the more attractive P&S is sounding.

I have a paper and presentation due tomorrow, but I can't work on it because Penn is giving me an ulcer.

Accept me, waitlist me...just do /something/ already. This hard-to-get routine is not charming.

Shoot why did I have to have class this afternoon? Pickles - you beat me to asking to be someone's date to WashU. Anyone else going? I won't even make you bring me a flower!

Pickles - I'm proud of you for registering for Michigan's revisit. We can't let these schools run our lives!

Personally I think this whole this is moderately ridiculous. I know they have had decisions made since at least last Thursday.
 
it's not that i mind so much that they are delaying us. (Ok, i do mind, but i'll get over it if i get in). It's just that im beginning to worry if this might be indicative of a larger systemic problem that might become a pain in the *** if actually IN the program...

Pennquaker made is sound like it was a bigger Penn-wide systematic problem... But still, after visiting, I think it's still the best run program that I saw.
 
Wow, we sound like a bunch of middle school girls (no offense). We totally have a crush on the cool guy in school and we're trying to wait and see if he likes us too. But He's SOOO dreamy that instead of waiting we over analyze every little detail. Picking flower petals and what not, going through every possible scenario (concentrating on the bad ones of course)

We should all do what Pickles is doing, go hang out with his friends and make him jealous, and stop wearing so much freaken lip gloss because digusting to kiss.

There is a LOT of beuracracy here and it definately has influenced a lot of things I've done here and created a lot of small headaches along the way. How much worse that beuracrcay is at Penn versus other big name schools is debateable, though in my research I am constantly running up against it and that has been by far my biggest frustration in lab.

So why are the acceptances released so late? Well the MD/PhD has to wait for the MD program which has to wait for something else and... Yep... Beuracracy :D

I completely understand.

I was thinking I'd start at USC, but to be honest, if I ever make it past their med school to their pharmacy school I'm not sure I'd ever want to leave.
