Duration: Fall 2023-Fall 2024 (optional second year)

Robert Hagan, MD is pleased to invite interested individuals to submit an application to become the Peripheral Nerve Research Fellow at Neuropax Clinic LLC in St. Louis, MO. Neuropax Clinic is a collaborative team centered on improving delivery of care and outcomes for patients with peripheral nerve injuries with a focus on headache surgery, thoracic outlet syndrome, and upper and lower extremity nerve compressions/injuries. His research is directly relevant to patients, clinicians, scientists, and policy-makers. The fellowship will focus on (1) clinical analysis of one of the highest clinical volume specialized peripheral nerve surgery practices and (2) continuing innovative collaborations with academic institutions across the country. The fellow will have longitudinal projects to design and complete during the program, but will also be asked to contribute to ongoing/existing research projects and review articles in order to maximize productivity.

  • Undergraduates taking a gap year
  • Medical school graduates
  • Residents interested in peripheral nerve surgery
  • International and Foreign Medical Students/Residents/Physicians with visas are eligible to apply
Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Stipend and Benefits
The selected applicant for this fellowships will receive a living stipend commensurate to level of education and training. No additional benefits are provided.

Goals and Responsibilities:
There are several key educational goals and responsibilities for this fellowship:
  • Gain knowledge in clinical, qualitative, and health services research methodology, including study design, protocol development, participant recruitment and enrollment, data collection, and statistical analysis.
  • Gain experience with scientific writing, abstract and manuscript preparation and submission, poster and podium presentations, and grant writing.
Specific characteristics we are looking for:
Individuals interested in a career in plastic surgery or peripheral nerve surgery, who are naturally inquisitive, work well in teams, receptive to coaching, and able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
