Phamcas GPA is different?

Hi,

I'm applying for fall 2010. I have not sent in my transcript to Pharmcas yet. Do they calculate GPA than on the transcript?

Well, it may appear different than what is listed on your transcript, because certain schools calculate your GPA different than pharmcas.

My GPA actually went up when calculated by pharmcas, but a lot of people complain about their GPA dropping because their schools for example only count higher grades for retakes while pharmcas includes everything.

Google's ma buddy... 😀

The biggest difference is that pharmcas averages each attempt at a course. If you failed Calc I (F) and retook it and got an A... then Pharmcas sees you took a course twice and got a 4 and 0, divides it by the number of times taken (2) and outputs: 2.0!

It's not a bad system if you've had an immaculate college career, but not many of us have. 😉

Yes they do calculate the GPA differently than on your transcript. For some it is beneficial, for others like me it is not so beneficial. I have heard from a few people that most schools will recalculate it on their own.
