So what route would I need to take to get a job as a professor at a university teaching pharmacy?

You should open a pharmacy school near the Salton Sea and justify doing so by touting it as the only pharmacy school in the area and how there is a shortage of pharmacists.

Then you get to work on the beach and fulfill your dream of teaching at a university. Win-win situation!

Hello,
There are a few ways.
1. A academic fellowship will help you with the proper credentials.
2. Completing a residency (and getting that teaching certificate through your residency) is another option.

Sometimes it is the right place, right time, right position, right focus (ie specialty)

Another way is to be higher up admin and teach on the side.

In the meantime, teaching a pharmacy practice course once in a while as an adjuct or as an affiliated faculty is another way.

Goodluck and I commend your passion in teaching.

I'd teach pharmacy in a heartbeat if more opportunities were available.
