It seems like there is a ton of things to read "before you apply." Really though, what all do you have to submit for the pharmcas? Also, if you start, can you save your progress and come back later to finish? Hope my post was clear enough. 😳

You can complete small portions at a time and go back later to finish up or to edit mistakes. you can change anything you want until you inform them that it is complete. You can start now, you dont have to pay until you want your application actually sent to schools.

👍 👍 👍 Good to know, thanks. Also, how much do you have to pay?? I was also wondering about my PCAT score. When I took it, I put the code to the schools I was going to apply to. Will that automatically come up for me when I start to fill out the applications?

Hey guys and girls,

I go to a university with a semester system, but many of the courses are full-year courses. Where should I put these in my application? For example, I don't want the committees to think that I took 6 credits of Organic Chemistry in one fall semester just because the course started in the fall session! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I'm asking how long does it take because my friend had her transcript mailed on the 19th and it still shows up as not being recieved by pharmcas.

I was wondering for myself too because I was going to update my grades before e-submitting to include my Summer session I grades and I wouldn't be able to mail it till the 18th of August (I need it updated before Sep 1st for Tier II deadline for UOP). Last time I had something mailed on the 14th I believe and pharmcas had already updated it by the 17th. I think perhaps they need more consistency? Does anyone know which is the norm?

Thanks

Mine took two weeks.

i don't know which is the norm...

depends.. one transcript that had only 15 classes took 2 days, but if a transcript have like 40 to 50 classes, it takes forever for them to input it onto your record. so 2 to 3 weeks, i think its best if u send it in now and just send it in again after ur summer grades are in which u can change on some grade change window on pharmcas. dont delay your turning in your app.

Ok i'm planning to turn in my application before september 1st to get into teir 2 for schools that have rolling application. But i before i e-submit my pharmacs i have a few questions....

1st question is about rec letters. Ok i understand that we are suppose to send in the 3 rec letters to pharmcas that we think are best 3. But i was wondering what about schools that require only 2 rec letters? How do they decide which is the top 2 rec letters for our application process? I also know that we are suppose to send in rec letter directly to the schools rite? just want to clarify this cause i think they will read all 3 rec lettters rite?

2nd questions is about pcat. I just want to make sure of this but if we e-submit are application we can still update our pcat score if I take the october test rite? I just have to make sure that when the scores come out that it is directly sent to pharmcas 104 rite? I was wondering though if i have my application turn in by the end of august, and by that i mean pharmcas e-submit and supplement application for USC, will USC be able to still see my pcat score for october?

3rd question is if I submit my pharmcas application by september 1st but turn in my supplement application for other schools later thats ok rite?

Finally once i e -submit i can update my grades anytime i want because i'm taking a summer class rite now and this class can make a difference for me by .1 points on my GPA, but my summer school ends in september 1st which by then i plan to e-submit.

Sorry this question may have already been answered. For those of you who are applying to schools that admit students on a rolling basis, do you submit your pharmcas even though you are still in the process of completing a summer class? I am only a week and a half from finishing the class but I was told that if I have to submit both the supplemental and pharmcas simultaneously.

When I called pharmcas, the rep told me that only personal information such as current address can be changed after submission. Does that mean I can't mail in a more updated transcript? I am also waiting for a hosptial to call me back so i can begin volunteering, but i can't enter this as one of my extracurricular activities since i haven't started.
Thank you very much! 🙂

sorry I started a new thread before reading yours. I have the same questions. I don't see the point of not letting us update our grades. When I called uop, i was told that once you submit your pharmcas, it's in, so you are considered tier 2, it needs not be processed.

The earlier you submit, the better. But August is still very early. If you get it in by Sept.1, that's still early. I think I got mine in by the end of Sept. and I was getting into the first round of interviews at my rolling schools. Isn't there a section for "classes currently being taken" or something like that so they know you are enrolled but not finished? I can't remember.

There is a chance to do an academic update later for updating summer classes. However, if you are only a week away from being done, maybe you should wait. It's still early, really.

Hey I also took a summer class that just ended a few days ago. The grade is not up yet and I already submited my PharmCAS and UOP supplemental. What I plan to do is get transcripts for my summer class and attach it to my supplmental application. This way the other CA schools can see it. Perhaps you can do that too. Yeah, it sucks that you can no longer update transcripts through PharmCAS once you submit.

I wonder how people format their personal statement for pharmCAS. Did you put indentation at the beginning of every paragraph? Those on-line sample essays don't seem to have indentations.?

Could anyone share the experience? Thanks a bunch. :luck:

You should indent your paragraphs. The only place I know of where that isn't acceptable is in technical writing. However, Tabs will not always transfer. Instead you can use 5-6 spaces.

Good Luck!

Try indenting anyway. If it goes through in a reverted non-indented form, there's still no harm done.

This has probably been asked before: Can I surrender my life's savings once I have obtained a complete file, that is, when all school transcripts and LORs have been received?

I understand that PharmCas will not forward files to schools until you pay, but can I submit $$ at the very end of the process?

One last question, once PharmCas has a complete file and my life savings, how long on average will it take them to submit to the schools of my choice.

Thanks!

How long would it take for pharmcas to evaluate my rather complicated transcripts? I have taken courses, however few, at 3 institutions, and I have around 150 credits and a bachelor's.

Same for me, but I had taken classes at 4 institutions. It took them 1 day, but I submitted Jun 30.

Charles how many total credit hours do you have?? 150 including bachelors???
I have around 210 credit hours ofcourse 122 from my bachelors degree from India and the rest from the US collleges. I submitted my application today.

Does anyone know when will be June 2006 PCAT updated on Pharmcas? I just checked my PharmCas profile, it is not updated yet...

says they have the June PCAT scores. They just haven't updated yet. I just called both PharmCAS and Hartcourt.

Thank you for the info.

150 credits total for all my coursework.

I submitted my applicatin today and in 2 hrs i had my GPA calculated. I guess if they had your transcripts already entered in the system for some time then the system does calucaltions automatically.

They'll take about 1 month I assume.

MY question if someone could PLEASE help me.

Physics has been very hard for me. First time I took it, I failed. Second time I took it, I got a C. Third time I took it (at a different school), I got a B.

So do I put "repeated" next to the B score, or next to BOTH the D and B? Or next to all three, next to F and C and B. ?

You need to put in all your grades that you have achieved in physics, irrespective of how many times you have repeated the course. So yes, you will keep three grades for physics. Keep them under their perspective semester Eg. u have taken physics 3 times. So you will have physics grades under, say, Fall 2005, winter 2006 and summer 2006. But you need to display all the grades that u have got in the course.
It is later on upto the insitution to choose the best grade or take the average.

It has been my experience that you can put what you think is right on the pharmcas application and they will change it how they like when they get your transcripts. They put tons of instructions on the site because they don't want to have to interact with anyone personally and then when you follow the instructions, they do what they want anyway.
I would put the first time you took the class as taking it, right? Then the second and third times as repeating it because you were repeating trying to better your grade. Like the previous poster "said", the schools can filter out the highest grades.

Good luck! 🙂

Thanks. Pharmcas doesn't really say anything about repeated multiple courses. as far as I can find on their instructions.

I heard that some schools have not recieved any complete applications from pharmcas yet, like UOP. Has anyone's applications been mailed out to their prospective schools yet?

According to Pharmas status mine were mailed July 31. I haven't heard anything from any of the schools yet.

That's interesting... I just called PharmCAS and they told me that it will take them 6 to 8 weeks to receive PCAT scores.

Where did you find online sample essays?

I also found that it wont let you indent, so I just put a space in between each paragraph, it looks professional, and that's about all I could figure out to do...

I esubmitted my PharmCAS application Monday. On the status of my Designation is says "Printout Not Mailled". Will they update it to say printout mailed or did I do something wrong?

Its same with me. There is a 2 week period after which they will start mailing out hard copy of your application to the schools. Don't worry, you didn't do anything wrong. The schools have online access to the applications as we speak, but they will get a print out in 2 weeks.

You're fine. It will update to "Printout Mailed" and give you the date once they mail it. I think they mail out applications and updated apps every two weeks. Mine mail out July 31, but one of my references arrived Aug 2, so I called to ask if it would be mailed out again. They told me they'd mail out the app with the reference in two weeks. My guess is they'll mail Aug 14.

I have a random question: if I were to apply to UMD pharm school early admission, with my current PCAT scores - and if i get rejected from early admin, would they let me apply regular admission with a new set of scores (from oct. pcat)?? or do you only get 1 chance to apply per year and thats it? thanks.

That's probably something that you'd have to contact the school about...not sure though 😕

I contacted UMD about this same questions and this was their response:
If you are not accepted into the school under the early decision program then your application will automatically be deferred to the regular decision process and then you are released from the contract and may apply to other schools.

Good luck!

I was wondering how long it took for the June Pcat scores to show up on pharmcas. Mine still arent there and I'm starting to worry. Are anyone else's scores up yet? Or do they not post those for us to see?

Mine are up since 08/08. It does not show the exact scores, it just says that Pcat scores are received.

What all types of info must you provide? I haven't did it yet and I was wanting to get an idea about what it was like.
