So I'm planning my next three and a half years and am looking at what classes I will be taking...I had a question about Physics. Since Physics isnt on the DAT, I want to take it my senior year. But Physics is also a requirement for I believe all Dental schools. My question is, do Dental schools want students to have taken Physics by the time they apply? or should they have thier Physics done anytime before they are accepted?

So would it be okay to take it my senior year? or should I take it before the end of my junior year so I can show Dental schools I have taken all the pre-reqs...

you can take it your senior year. As long as you take and pass physics before entering dental school, you're fine.

there is a section in the AADSAS where you can show dental schools the classes that you plan on completing. So you can fill that out and put physics in that section and they will see it and everything will be ok. Just relax man.

I dont think dental schools weigh physics too heavily in making their decision. I got C's in both Physics 1 and 2 and I still received 2 acceptances.

I tried to put off physics as well until I realized that my university has a pre-professional committee that you apply to at the end of your junior year before you can apply to professional school. All requirements must be finished before applying.

just curious do D schools require a calculus based physics or a regular algebra based physics? I have already taken the calculus based physics I and would much rather take the algebra based physics II.

At most schools it's just 6 credits physics lecture/2credits physics lab. They can be algebra or calculus based. I, personally, took algebra based physics and the A's in those classes helped balance out a couple C's in Chemistry! 🙂👍

That's why the cool people only major in science and aren't a Pre-anything in univ.

I am a bio major at Pitt... we don't have pre-professional programs either. Doesn't matter, though, cause you still have to be reviewed by the committee.
