Anyone else really annoyed about this amcas delay? They really couldn't fix this problem earlier. I worked my ass off to have my app done and polished for today and now this? C'mon step it up. Now people have another week. That probably means getting verified against thousands of more apps

You should probably get used to delays. Here is a tip, find a hobby to keep you occupied.

If you get this upset over something like this then I look forward to following your mental status over the rest of the cycle.

This is so true. This could actually be amusing to follow

Nothing to be too salty over. Most of the truly competitive applicants that you'll have to worry about have been in the same boat as you anyway: they had their AMCAS application all ready to go for submission today as well. Sure, there will be a decent number of additional applicants right at the beginning than there would have been, but I guarantee you that a greater number still are gonna put it off further. I wouldn't stress over it, really.

Why does it matter that other people have an extra week? Do you really think that is gonna seriously diminish your chances of getting into a med school? It really doesn't.

Think of it like this: You got work done a week before it was due. Now you can rest easy on that part! 😎

Can't wait until the OP sees waves of people randomly getting automatic secondaries before him, even though he applied earlier than they did.

Someone else mentioned that there's been a delay every year since 2000, when AMCAS went digital. That same year they ended up switching back to a paper application because of all the issues they had. Not sure how accurate that is, but it sounds believable.

Enjoy your pre-secondary life OP. This is a long and terribly miserable process.

Luckily life after being accepted (and before matriculation) is pretty much as good as it gets 😎

Relax man, you are way ahead of the game anyways.. As my boy Lil' Wayne says," Life is a beach, you just gotta play in the sand." Enjoy yourself!

Trying to picture your reaction to "Application Continued".

I totally understand your frustration. But, I think it's actually a great opportunity for you. You can take the next few days to just completely relax, forget about the application a bit. Then pick back up on Saturday and Sunday with totally fresh eyes and give it a few more reads. It will be even better when you submit on Monday and you'll really be in the same boat you were in before! Take some time to relax and celebrate tonight! 🙂

A lot is going to be out of your hands during the cycle. Get used to it.

I think people are being a little dismissive because some of us are already in. I submitted my app on June 2 and it took me a week to get verified. If the current trends continue AMCAS will be verifying people later and later. I know it sucks, but this is the nature of applying to med school.

I know that feeling bro.

That's why you should relax. This is beyond your control.

OP, the above posts are replete with truth. Far more acts of blatant wheatie ishtting will take place as the cycle progresses. I can't even begin to enumerate the fare more important things that will make your blood boil as you vye for your torture chair seat in med school.

Also? Good lord, I know like 95% of you replying in here.

I feel it might be something like this:

That gif is definitely better than the simple +pissed+

Anyways, OP, you need to relax. Med school admissions suck, but you just need to do something else to keep yourself preoccupied.

This is cute. You gotta calm down. Like others have said before, the next year for you is nothing like waiting just 6 measly days.

It's fine by me because my transcripts still haven't been received.

But the AAMC is still worthless and deserves to be forcibly disbanded.

I wasn't going to have my app ready to submit for another week, so now we will be submitting together. Now I am going to get all the spots that were going to be offered to you!! Tough luck, man.

Going to bust that Charcot-Bouchard when you've been marinading on about 6 waitlists for months without the slightest peep of activity, good or bad. This is a game of patience, OP. Embrace it.

Ugh I know that feel....chill OP! Its a long road!

lol @ the OP getting his panties in a bunch because others have get 1 more week to work on their app. It is people like this who give those applying to medical a bad name.

Trust me, if you're submitting this early, you're fine.

As others have said - this whole process is a waiting game. I didn't hear back from one of my interviews until a couple of weeks ago.

You're in for a long ride, OP. Strap in.

This. People who have been accepted need to be real. No, you were not more chill than anyone who is applying now. Personally I wanted to submit day one so that I could check out for the first month of summer until secondaries start rolling in. A one week delay is a bummer.

Actually, I was.

U mad brah?

I hope they delay it again
I need more time 😎

Just because I submitted on the first day doesn't mean that I was neurotic. I just had my crap together.

Chill people don't feel the need to submit day 1, brah. There's no shame in not being chill though. You probably just wanted to be verified by June 28th, just like the people who are disappointed in the delay.

I didn't feel the need to, I just did because I was ready. But I guess you can believe what you want. My fellow SDNers will attest to my chillness any day of the week.

Chill is my middle name 😎

It depends on the person. I was pretty lax about my submit date (Aug 1). I took my MCAT at the end of May so I was busy studying during May, and I probably didn't even start filling out the AMCAS until after June 1, my year's submit date. Then I was working full time after taking the MCAT so it took me a while to get all the stuff written for the application and overhauling my PS. I wasn't an early applicant, but I wasn't late either. Sure I kinda wish I had gotten it out earlier so I didn't have to do as much waiting, but it all turned out great. I don't mind the people that want to be on top of things and get it out first thing, more power to them, but the people who stress out about submitting it at 5pm June 10 vs 9:30am? Or an AMCAS server delay that is out of their control? Come on. You'll experience a lot of "bummers" during the app season, this really is a minor one.

😎 Lovin' the chiller-than-thou-isms going on 👍

slz has made two WAMC threads, one before he took the MCAT. Chill to the bone.

JK, people can do what they want. I don't care either way. The delay is good for those getting stuff together and those ready get a week off. I don't see a problem either way.

It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Sounds good, but there are a few people on the panic thread who submitted in aug and regret it now. I guess the class of 2018 is the first class who wants to get an advantage on other applicants by submitting early. Everything was so much better back in 2011/2012.

I wonder how many of us will disappear from the pre-allo threads once we switch our statuses to MS...

Wait, there's a delay right now? For how long?
