Pittsburgh Notification Date?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
From the admissions web page:

"After your interview, the Admissions Committee makes its selections. The action taken by the
Committee may be acceptance, placement on the wait list, or not accepted. You'll be notified by
mail, usually at the beginning of March. "

Perhaps not more precise, but probably more accurate.

march 1st...its on the "quick glance" window for acceptance policies in the website

according to someone on here, the notification date is actually at the end of feb (last week), but they tell you the beginning of march. not sure if this is true...

The admissions director told me that the committee meets to make the decisions on Feb. 26. There will be another meeting shortly thereafter to decide scholarship offers. So early March sounds about right. (I've been antsy, too.)

so if i have an interview on feb 24th, do you think i go into the 26th meeting? or do they have meetings throughout and everything gets tallied/compiled on the 26th so i won't be included in that batch?

don't know - they go rolling after the first batch. I would suspect it depends how quickly your interviewers (1 faculty and 1 student) get your interview assessment in.

I was just at pitt(on the 12th). They said our decisions would be based on how soon our interviewers get their forms back. Hopefully mine got them in soon. (I saw my med student turn hers in the same day) Not sure about this feb 26th date people are throwing around but the director did say that the last week of Feb decisions will be made. I can't imagine the adcom reviewing everyone in one day. The director then said that notifications will be out first week of March. Admission then becomes rolling after that first accept week/date.

The waitlist is ranked...although they can't divulge your rank info.

I interviewed Feb. 4 and they told our group not to count on being in the first batch of decisions because many interviewers won't have their evaluations in by then. But, I was told that they leave quite a few spots open after the first batch of decisions, so it is not like your interviewing for a waitlist spot or anything. It should probably be a few weeks into March before Feb. interviewers hear anything.

Who's gonna go if they get in???

Hmm...I would think an evaluator would get their materials in asap. I mean I wouldn't want to fill out someone's eval a week later when I've forgotten everything about them. If you interviewed on the 4th then I'd say your file will probably be in the first batch. I was there on the 12th so I'm pushing it. But like I sadi I would imagine the interviewer not taking more than a week to evaluate so perhaps she did it the same day or the next and got it in for me.

just my 2 pennies

Hope you're right UCLA, I just want to hear from schools ASAP so that I can make some decisions. Good luck.
