I went to a community college first for two years and then transferred to a really good university and graduated from there after two years. This is what Pittsb. says on the website:
"The admissions committee does not consider highly those applicants who have been enrolled for more than one-third of coursework (both general and required courses) in community colleges or junior colleges. Grades of C or better are expected in prerequisite courses."
Does that mean you better not apply if you went to a community college first?

I'm sure others can better answer this, but I'll attempt. From what I know about Pitt, I would say it would be harder to get in. However, if your instate with community college work, your chances will drop even more because it's harder for in-staters to get in at Pitt to begin with, and it's even worse if you actually went to the University of Pittsburgh. Anyways, try to find someone that goes/went there and see what they say. Goodluck!

thanks. Anyone else?

its actually easier to get into Pitt if you in-state......

and why would you think that its even harder if you went to undergrad there.....that really doesnt seem to make sense

well I'm out of state, but what a bout the whole community college issue? anything about that?

Several people have told me that it's harder to get in if your in-state. I guess I stand corrected, sorry!

As far as the undergrad thing goes, they have an acceptance deal when you apply ther for undergrad. So I was told that if you didn't have the "guarenteed acceptance" as an undergrad, that it would be harder to get into the dental school if you went to Pitt.

Once again, sorry if I was wrong, but that's what several people have told me.

Pitt is half public half private... so in-state is less than out- of state.... you have little advantage at pitt if your from PA.
