I would like some clarification about the plan to enroll deadline on April 30th. AAMC recommends that applicants let go of all but one acceptance by this date (Protocol 9). However, after calling them today, the representative explained this differently. She said nothing is binding until the school-specific commit to enroll deadline, and that April 30th is just the day the "commit" option becomes available. She said we can only "plan to enroll" at one school, but that we do not have to drop the other acceptances until the commit to enroll deadline.
Also, under the plan to enroll option, it says the following:
"I have preliminarily selected this medical school as the one I plan to attend in accordance with Protocol 9 of the Application and Acceptance Protocols for Applicants. Medical schools can only see aggregate information until April 30th and will not know which applicants have selected "Plan to Enroll" at their school or at other schools. Beginning April 30th, medical schools can see which of their accepted applicants have selected "Plan to Enroll" at their institution. I understand that I can continue to interview, hold my current acceptance offers and receive additional acceptance offers, and remain on any waitlist at any other medical schools to which I applied."
Does this mean that we can still hold onto more than one acceptance after April 30th? So for example, if an applicant is accepted to two schools, could they submit 'plan to enroll' at one school and continue holding the other school acceptance? This is what I gathered from the AAMC representative and the message above. However, Protocol 9 seems to contradict this information.
I would really appreciate if someone could explain this to me. @gonnif would love your input as well. Thank you!
