Does anyone know the best way to go about terminating a car lease? I am only 1 year into my 3 year lease on a VW and don't like the car at all!!! Previous comments about VW's are totally right! Thanks! 🙂

Crash it or have someone steal it😀.

My newer Taurus just got totaled by some whackjob uninsured driver. The insurance gave me $1100 more than what I paid for it...haha...I need to figure out ways for more people to wreck my cars...

Haha, I had that happen to me with a sentra I had few years back. Guy stole a truck from shopping center parking lot and crashed into my parked car few blocks away running from the cops. Insurance ended up paying me around 600 more than I paid for it, uninsured drivers totaling your car is the way to go. I wanted a 4X4 at that point anyway, so it worked out very well for me.👍

well that's fine, but I wouldn't want to be in a car that gets totaled by some bad driver.

Agreed, luckily I was not in the car but I could hear the crash from inside my apt and came running out to find my car totaled by an f150 and a guy running down the street away from the scene with cops coming down the road. Interesting day...
The guy was on parole for auto theft, go figure.

As a 350z owner - that is blasphemy... If there was a God - He would strike you down.

Unless it is to purchase something like a Fisker Karma - At such a point, said destruction would be perfectly reasonable.

Refinance - Trust me = I pay 251 per month at 4.9% I wont be paying it off at 251 after I get out of school. Right now however, it allows me to afford the 2nd love of my life - and I get to keep my 749 credit score.

Yea i need to figure something out. Payments are brutal. Lesson learned though. I am buying cheap cars from now on.😀

Yea or Nay? I am strangely drawn to this car.. I know I'll never get one but it's nostalgic. My bro had a 69 Z-28....

The new Charger and Camero are awesome!!! I would love to have a Charger. I was a mopar man way back in high school. I had a '69 Road Runner that would be worth a crap load of money now had I not sold it.

the new Challenger doesn't do anything for me... it's just little too big, too long, too wide, and too heavy looking. And it's CamAro.

You're not really a car guy...are you. :meanie:

The same as the title. The reason is: I intended to buy a used, but was just presented with a new 2009 Toyota Corolla LE, causing my anxiety to go up because I am car illiterate and just finish the driving lesson.

Oh, comment on yours and mine as well. 😍

My real first car was a 1999 Corolla LE. It was a plain but super reliable car. Nothing to complain of, and had a 1.8 L engine that was a true gem (great mileage and power for that time). Nothing bad to say about it except it was a smaller car, and wasn't a chick magnet. 😛

Current car, a used 2001 Honda Accord EX. It's a much better fit for me because it's a mid sized car. It's very reliable too except the rear break caliper failed on me, then the repair shop installed a replacement that failed again (at least they replaced it again for free) Other wise nothing wrong with it. I love the move up to a mid-size car, but it does suck up gas faster. But if you want to get it on, at least the back seat is big enough. <wink>

Seriously, I think if you are looking for a commuter car, you can't go wrong with a corolla. But if you want a little more comfort or think you are going to start a family, a mid-sized "family" car like the accord might be a better fit.

About a year and a half ago I purchased a new (2007) Toyota Corolla, standard transmission, very basic model. It has been the best car I have ever owned. I am sure it will last another 6+ years (it now has over 60,000 miles on it). I consistently get 38 mpg, higher if I drive only highway miles (have gotten as high as 44mpg). I love it!

It's insanely fun to drive next to these ecofreak bicyclists, and then just floor it (HAH, you'll never go faster than me unless there are red lights, which by the way *******s, you're supposed to stop for also if you want to share the road with the big boys).

If you do it right, the wake from your car can knock over these ******* bicyclists.

That is ugly. Does the wing on the trunk make the car go faster? I've always wanted to know.

The lease on my 2006 Honda Accord is up, so it's time for a new car. I'm looking at getting a Honda Civic Si.

I usually bash rice and ricers, but I can't afford a 335i yet.

Nope, it makes it go slower because of the extra weight. That's why I hate it when they put wings on these slower cars.

You need wings for down force, but you don't need down force until you get to the high speeds, which you won't get to in this car. For example, the Koenigsegg CCX is a car that needs a wing.

There's an episode of Top Gear where they test drive that car and they cannot get the full potential out of the car because there isn't enough down force to keep the car in control. The Top Gear show hosts and the Stig (their tamed race performance driver) suggested that Koenigsegg puts a wing on it.

They did it, and when the car came back, it did a lot better in the time trials held on the Top Gear course.

I am curious how pharmacy students pay their car loans while in school. Do most of you just work extra hours during the week or work a crap load during the summer to make the payments? I wanted to get a newer car this summer, but I do not want to work too much during school, and I do not want to take out loans to pay off loans. How do you guys do it?

Well... so...

I was shopping for a new car, which one's me... a cool convertible or an SUV? Too bad I didn't know my credit was whacked 'cause now I'm driving off the lot in a used subcompact.

Here's my friend Brad's FJ Cruiser he bought last week.

He was on his way to work. He's a floater. Dude flips his truck 2 times sideways, passenger side collapses...not a scratch on him. He got a ride into town and finished his shift.

Dude is nuts.

F-R-E-E that spells free, credit report dot com baby.

Did anyone actually buy a new car while in pharmacy school or waited until graduation and secured a job before doing so?

I bought a 2006 Honda Element 2nd year.

I pay up my loan the beginning of every semester when I get my loan money. ($306/mo)

I love running foreign cars off the road with my Jeep in 4WD! The best is during a snowstorm when they drive in the left hand lane or even straddle them...until I "correct" them😀

I think I saw a pothole eat a Prius last week:soexcited:

Oh hey, car thread. :woot:

I currently drive a 2004 Pontiac GTO, lightly modded (just headers, exhaust and a mild tune). Between that and being an automatic, my mileage is horrendous - usually around 13mpg in mostly city driving. I prefer to think of it as SMILES per gallon, though. 😉 It's fun having something that sounds mean, looks nice but stealthy, goes pretty hard and is somewhat uncommon.

I've grown up dreaming about big, V8-powered muscle cars, and my ultimate dream would be to have a fleet of hi-po Pontiacs - '62 Catalina 421 SD, '70 GTO/LeMans with a built 455, '68 Firebird with an LSx swap :meanie:, etc.

Of course, when you look at what I could reasonably get at some future point when I finish my schooling... I'd like to be able to buy another Pontiac if they're still around. Failing that, I've always had a soft spot for Mazda. I'd rock a Mazdaspeed3 so hard.

Or an STi... or a Volvo V70R... or one of the supercharged Mercedes E55 AMGs... ah, the possibilities are endless.

The Mazdaspeed3 is an amazing car, just letting you know that it has a pretty heavy clutch. I am decent at driving manual transmission. In the last 3 months, I've never stalled when driving a BMW 330i, Subaru WRX, or the Civic Si, I stalled like 5 times when test driving the Speed3.

Actually what I would like even more, if they would ever sell it here:

5 > 4 😀

Now that's the direction American car makers should be going in. It seems that most American cars were designed without cornering or handling in mind. There's a blind curve on the highway near my house that I can take at 40 mph in my Accord, 60 mph in my cousins 330i, and when I drive my friend's Oldsmobile the blasted thing feels like its going to fall apart and the tires start slipping at 25 mph. (The advisory speed on that curve is 25 mph).

Hogwash. Everyone knows Jeeps spend more time in the mechanic's garage than on the road. :highfive:

That's an interesting dream you had though; automotive jingoism at its finest.

Ahh yes, I dream of a nation where jingoism prevailed and the US didn't sell itself out to foreign companies' CEOs. You know...the ones who have no unions and provide a fraction of the healthcare and retirement benefits of US automakers.

I mean.....****...if CVS and Walgreens offered retirement benefits and then some foreign mail order came and offered lower wages and no benefits...while simultaneously importing prescriptions filled by pharmacists from China, India, and Europe...

...you'd be all over their nuts, right? :claps: Or would you advocate pharmaceutical jingoism?

As far as Jeeps...they actually go OFF the road
