Hi folks! Been going back and forth on this for weeks now and I have two days left to decide. Would really appreciate some advice! Side note, I am from CA and I am interested in Internal Medicine and EM
Touro NV
Pros
KCU
Pros
Also, dont know if this is true, but I've seen that it does not matter where you go to school if it's a DO school and rotation coordinators for certain programs won't even look at your app/consider you less if they are not as familiar with your school. Is it true that PDs prefer DO schools that are regionally close rather than more established?
Touro NV
Pros
- location/closer to home
- many placements in CA
- 3rd year rotations within 40 minutes
- expanded class size and UNLV opening = difficulty getting core rotations
- most place in FM
- not a good impression of faculty = potential lack of support down the line
- lower board pass rates, potentially scores too
- don't disclose rotation sites. discovered that many core rotations are with a private doctor rather than with affiliations with hospitals
KCU
Pros
- more established & transparent
- better board scores/board pass rates
- impressive match list in many specialties
- nicer campus
- chance of rotating in CA (slim chance cuz limited spots)
- far from home
- bigger class size
- less placements in CA and more in the midwest
- grade depends on a curve
