I wasn't able to snag an inpatient IM rotation so I was able to get an inpatient FM one, and one of the clinical docs is willing to write me a LOR.

so... is an Inpatient FM LOR okay if applying to IM residency?

Is that okay to use as one of my 4 LORs?

I got one from a subspecialist in IM, one from my chair, and one from another IM doc who's been in charge of learning and clinic duties at our school.

Any thoughts/advice are appreciated.

Back as a MS4, I also used a FM doc for one of my LoR. I got the interviews I wanted, and matched my first choice for IM.

Of course, use it. A good letter is a good letter. Sometimes its nice to get a letter from someone outside of the specialty, it demonstrates wide breadth.
