I was interviewed and accepted there last cycle, although I chose to enter KCOM instead.

Positive impressions:
--widespread use of computer technology
--excellent and new facilities
--faculty and students who genuinely seem to care
--Kansas City
--if you have an SO, KC provides many more career opportunities for them

Negative impressions:
--the neighborhood
--lack of safe, quality housing on-campus or nearby
--personal interview experience
--large class size [~250]

Does anyone know how UHS compares to WesternU?

Also, what are your impressions on TCOM?
Thanks again.

A friend of mine is a 3rd year student at UHS/COM and he told me that a big difference between Western U and UHS/COM is that UHS/COM is only now just creating a strong OMM program whereas Western U has had a strong OMM program for many years. All I know about TCOM is that they like to take their residents above all else. (94%!)

TCOM is cool. We just switched to a new organ-based curriculum, have a new school of public health, an established DO/PhD program, good local rotations, and a new innovative pre-doctoral OMM fellowship in clinical research. If you're an out-of-state applicant interested in dual degree training opportunities (DO/MS, DO/MPH, or DO/PhD) your application might get a closer a look.
