PLS help! Have trouble with the APPL

I wrote my personal statement and have cut everything down to the bare essentials. On Microsoft Word, my essay is 4499 characters including spaces. When I copied and pasted on the AADSAS application, it counted as 4520 characters. I had to skip a line between every paragraph to distinguish a new paragraph and their program counts that in. Does everyone have trouble with that too? I have cut my paper to the point of using contractions...I don't do anything anymore. I'm so exasperated.

Yeah i had this issue as well and i think i just opted for single indents instead of line breaks.
