I feel screwed already.

I am (hopefully) attending UT-Austin for my pre-pharm classes. I should hear an admissions decision in the next two months.

Anyway, just this semester, they switched to a plus/minus grading system for undergraduate classes. I have never had a problem making an A in a class and walking away with my 4.0, but now....

90-94 is a 3.67 and 95+ is a 4.0 I am just ill about this. Worst part, UT is not changing the way they view a GPA. So I could potentially make a 3.67 gpa with all As and still not get into UT's pharmacy school because I didn't make a 95 or better in most of my classes. There is so much pressure!

Why would any university do this to their students? UT's average new pharmacy enrollee GPA is 3.6! According to this, I can't afford more than like 1 or 2 Bs, if that.

Just needed to vent about that. Thanks.

Deal with it. That's how it works. How would you feel if you get a 89.4% and it's a 3.0 instead of a 3.3? In that case, the system actually helps you.

Yeah, that's pretty standard. At my school an A is a 95. Deal.

Yeah like everyone else said...deal. And the most important thing is don't use this as an excuse if your gpa is lower than you want it to be. Admissions at pharm schools will not be impressed by someone complaing about the grading system set up. Perhaps you already knew this and were just venting here. But figured I would mention it just in case. But by the way this forum is probably a bad place to vent about how unfair something is, everyone will jump down your throat because they will have problems of their own. If you wanted sympathy I would suggest venting to a friend or family member.
