Would you go to a new DO school, or go out of state where you won’t get any points for site selection? I don’t want to limit my options for residency.

CHSUCOM:
Pros
- close to family
- small incoming class
- rotation sites in CA
- modeling curriculum after KU & RVU
Cons
- for profit
- lots of variabilities as an incoming class
- private loans
- Virtual anatomy lab/ no cadavers
- graded classes

PNWU
Pros:
- good track record for residency placement
- p/f classes
- students love their experience there.
- fed loans
- cadaver lab
cons:
- No points for site selection
- location/ weather.

Being a new school, due to accreditation, it doesn’t qualify for fed loans.. at least in the first two years.
Stay away from that school, go PNWU, take out fed loans, become a good physician, and wait for that loan forgiveness.

I would go for PNWU, its an established school and one of friend is OMSIII at that school.
Have you applied to Touro Nevada?

don’t hold your breath for loan forgiveness
At least with goverment you get REPAYE and a chance to apply for forgiveness, and who knows if M4A, should it become a reality someday, can bring along its own ways of forgiving fed loans for healthcare providers.

Just curious where did you end up going for school? I’m on the same boat with both schools.
