Anybody on here heading up to New York for the Pod Basketball Tournament? I think the dates are April 9-10. I cleared the test schedule for our class so we are clear to go. I just need to raise some funds. Anyone know who the best teams usually are? If you are over 6'8" please do not show up, it's not fair.

I know it doesn't help but....this time next year, I'm there! 👍👍 🙂

I guess there are no athletes on SDN.
I guess not. I was hoping some of the other students would have something to share, but I can tell you what I know as a non-player. AZPod won 2nd place last year when it was in California. I believe that DMU took first place. The AZPod team will be in New York for the tourney, and they are raising money to cover the costs. I don't believe that we have anyone that is 6'8 on the team. Possibly 6'7, but no way 6'8:laugh:

I'm not playing but my classmates are. Those who haven't been to Harlem will get to experience it! Someone in my class is over 7 foot, but I'm not sure if he is playing. I hope he is!!

Please tell that guy that studying is more important than sports. I will end up having to guard him. I've never been to New York. Any advice?

A pod basketball tourney?! This is by far the best thing I have discovered about podiatry! Looks like I won't have to completely retire when my season ends in a couple of weeks. I just hope people don't mind getting beat by a girl... 😉

They actually have a girls division too.

I go to NYCPM and the tourney should be amazing this year. There are different divisions for men and women. The games are being played at college gyms in NYC.

I watched the video on that link and the place seems really nice. Do we have access to the rest of the facilities while we are there at the basketball tournament? If not, it doesn't matter.

Scholl guys beat DMU in the semi's and AZPod in the finals. They have now won the title the last 4 years in a row.

The event is right around the corner.. who all is coming to NYC??

I'll be there, but I leave right after Pod Med lab this Friday, and we are doing ankle blocks. I hope my foot works for the 1st game. See you guys Friday and Saturday

I left before the final game but I heard Iowa won it all. I had a blast and New York is awesome. I just wish we had subs. Note for next year, bring more than 5 people. Most of the games I saw were withing 5 points, so there were many good teams this year. Sorry Scholl for not winning for your 5th time in a row or whatever the streak was. Iowa and all that corn they eat produced a tall team. Congrats!

Yep, the stormin' mormons from DMU won (not their real name). They kicked our butt during the regular season, but I did score an uncontested layup on them. They are all good guys and good students, and I sure they did a great job repping DMU.

I met some of the stormin mormons from Iowa. Maybe thats why we lost cause I was the only one on my team. I think I met a few guys from each team that went to BYU or other Utah schools. Most of the guys that went to the tournament were cool minus a few. I wont say where they went or what they look like. It feels good to have handed the champions their only loss of the tournament. I was rooting for them when we lost our first game of the playoff. I thought they had the best team + bench. Next year is in Ohio I think.
