Hello, apologies if this thread is redundant but I couldn't find any recent threads.

I have a new, long commute and want to stay up to date on the world of healthcare. What are your favorite medical podcasts that keep you informed on healthcare policy, social issues, medical advancements, epidemics, cost of care, etc. I already listen to a few that are entertaining medical podcasts but I want to make sure I'm knowledgable on basic topics too. Thank you!!

Now disclaimer, I don’t listen to very many medical podcasts. But if you want comedy/news politics podcasts, boy have I got you. In the meantime, I’ll recommend:

- Radiolab, a true podcast classic for science-y stories

- America Dissected, a new podcast by the people who make Pod Save America talking about the US healthcare system and health issues. I haven’t listened to it much yet, but I trust Crooked Media to make solid content.

- Unerased, only somewhat related but a very good limited short series pod on the history of LGBT conversion therapy in the US.

I also second many of the mentioned podcasts. And if you want recs for non-medical podcasts lemme know!

I'll have to checkout Sawbones. I enjoy listening to non-medical podcasts or audiobooks as well as personal finance-y type stuff. I like:

White coat investor
Financial Residency
Freakonomics
Planet Money

Oh hey a thread I can actually contribute to meaningfully.

Personal favorites:
A Very Fatal Murder - Serial parody made by the Onion
Classical Classroom - for those non-Musicians who want to be more holistic and learn about classical music
Snap Judgement - from NPR, stories with a beat
The Dirtbag Diaries - about outdoorsy people doing outdoorsy things
The Truth - well made and produced stores
Wait Wait Don't Tell Me - NPR news quiz, just hilarious and maybe my favorite of all time
Welcome to Nightvale - fictional news show about a spooky town
More Perfect - made by Radiolab people on the Supreme Court

Political ones:
FiveThirtyEight Politics - polls-based show which analyzes current events from a numbers perspective
Left, Right & Center - a discussion show which always has a representative from both sides of the aisle along with a neutral moderator
On the Media - phenomenal and self-aware analysis of the medias roll in our society
The Daily - a daily (go figure) news show from the New York Times which usually focuses on only one story per day
NPR Politics - lots of fairly unbiased (does lean to the left depending on the reporter) coverage of the days biggest stories
Pod Save the World - a great international discussion cast hosted by two former members of the Obama administration, so deff left leaning but still smart. He does two others, PS America and PS the People but I don't think they're quite as good.

Other more niche ones but I like them:
The Brighter Side - from the same network as The Last Podcast on the Left, just a bunch of positive people saying positive things
Embedded - another NPR one where they just go in on one specific issue in society
On Being with Krista Tippet - talk about spirituality across religions and non-religions
Sustainabable - British dudes discuss the future of our environment and advancements in sustainable technology
The China in Africa Podcast - a very important of the global political environment today that doesn't get hardly any coverage domestically
This American Life - Ira Glass

Ones already mentioned that I just want to second cause they're good:
Planet Money - Kai Risdol is a god
Radiolab - one of the best
TED Radio Hour - not said but everyone knows what this is
The Moth - some absolute gems of episodes in the archives
This Podcast will Kill You - super relevant to this forum

I listen to a lot of podcasts

I could not stop listening to Dr. Death. I have to remember to never bring that up around Baylor. I really like the Conan podcast, too.

Peter Attia & Rhonda Patrick would be great places to start if you are interested in how to live a healthier life and you’re a Biochem nerd.

This is cool, I don’t listen to podcasts but might start now! Are any of these podcasts educational but also really funny? I’m looking for something for my morning commute too & wanna learn new things but not like fall asleep at the wheel lol 😛

I just listened to the first two episodes of this and they're really well done but both left me shaking with rage
