Have a genetics test in 4 hours. Haven't been to class since the last midterm and I've looked at maybe 50% of the material. DGAF...

Doing it right.

I went to my inorganic chemistry review session to hand in my homework and play scrabble on my phone. Test tomorrow. DGAF.

I envy you guys. My finals are going to kick my rear end and my IPPE rotation starts 2 days later. I have to actually move to another city that is 4 hours away for a month. And I still have to commute 2 hours to work on weekends. I literally will not have a day off until July since IPPE is 8 hours a day like a full-time job. That means 60 hours of "work" every week for a month. And if I win the Chair Elect position for my local pharmacy org, I will be spending my first weekend "off" working at the conference from 6am - midnight for 5 days, no joke. And I have to present and talk to a bunch of people. Fml

Sounds like fun!

My vacation officially started today at around 7 pm. I have a stupid poster board I had to do that was given back tonight and I'm planning on burning that along with a few other things as a little bonfire over a few drinks with some friends as to culminate my undergrad years 😀 I have so much free time that I have no idea what to do with myself.

I feel that pain, been there with insane work deadlines and business travel. In retrospect, it feels good to have all that accomplished but for the present....it's a long, hard road. Good luck.

Anyone else ever have to write a 5+ page paper for a non-lab chemistry class regarding some totally enthralling topic not covered by the "limited scope" of the course syllabus? Anyone want to learn about the dazzling world of inorganic polymers?

That sounds terribly dull. I just had an oral final over a paper on regulation of apoptosis that was pretty uninteresting too. It was one of the few exams I've actually studied my ass off for this semester, just to make sure I didn't freeze up when he asked me a question. Never had an oral exam before so I was pretty nervous, but it wasn't too bad. Only took 15-20 minutes too.

Nope and Yep.

One of my best friends is coming down to visit on the Friday before finals. There goes my weekend productivity. 😱

I was offered a spot in a physics study group for our final monday morning. I said "I won't be there!"

So, shortly after this post It hit me how awesome a day it would be for baseball. Thus, I rushed through my test and hopped on a train to the Bronx for the Yankee game. Spontaneity ftw.

That must be nice. Can't get Phillies tickets day-of.

Get it?

It's cause they sell out. Every day.

See you in October.

No animosity...😎

The Astros ALWAYS have tix left over, lol.
Last season I could get to see a game for $2 ... and to top it off they allowed you to use buy on get one free coupons. $1 MLB baseball games 👍 Too bad the food and beer are expensive 👎

I think the only people who go to the games are people living in Houston, but are orginally from where the visiting team is from.

By the grace of God I got an 80 on my Ochem exam I thought I failed! Woohoo! I am sitting at a B+ for the final it looks like! Oh wait, what's this? The final is the ACS full-year Ochem exam? :/

I can't wait to see the Phillies in the playoffs so the Rockies can sweep them!

Is it ochem II? The last test I had before my final in that class was all about carbohydrates and it was super easy. I studied like I never have before for the final and got like 84% (class average of 52 or something). I think it's great how the same class made me alternate between feeling like a loser and an all-star.

Speaking of all-stars, don't get too ahead of yourself. October's pretty far away and the Phils are looking like themselves more and more. Polanco's been on a serious tear and the pitching, while mediocre considering the staff, is still stronger than most other teams could ever hope for. I can't wait for it either though, since I'll be back in Philly and finally old enough to hit the bars.

I don't know if it's just me, but it's not even a lack of motivation. I'm just plain bored! My last 2 classes this summer are pretty much jokes and this semester was a joke too. Ugh, I can't wait until pharmacy school starts!

yep, I am bored as well. The only science class I had this semester was Immunology. I am taking a couple of classes this summer too but they will be so easy! Yes boring is more fitting for my situation 😴

Latest hobby: calculating the grades I need on finals to get B's (even though I can get C's without incident)

Next up: Biochemistry tomorrow. Need a 98 to get an A or a 42 to keep my B. Hmmmmmm.

What am I doing with my newfound freedom? Learning french. It is hard!

So your final is like 17.857% of your semester grade?

My last final exam was today. Now I am waiting on semester grades, moving, and start May semester on the 16th... always something going on!👎

Damn. I'm totally about to get a C in P.E. I got a 0 on the midterm because I skipped class and forgot it was that day. Now I just scored a 39/50 on the final. 🙁

I've never made lower than an A on a non-math/science class in college.

Reading through this thread has made me realize how studious 98% of you usually are. I'd be in med school if I worked that hard or made the same grades some of you usually make. 😱

Me neither but if I did I would've definitely been studying like you. 😀

Nice Curve... Go for the B+/A-

My school doesn't have a +/- system. I love it.

So your final is like 17.857% of your semester grade?

There were four midterms at 100 points each. This "final" was really just the fourth midterm. No homework grades or anything else but they offered 2% extra credit (as far as I can tell, it just gets added to whatever your final percentage standing in the class is) if 80% of the class did the Course Evaluation thing online. I wasn't sure exactly how the extra credit would factor in at the end, so I made an estimate. I needed a 64% to get an 80 (B, not B-) in the class, and I'm pretty sure I got that with only about an hour of study time. I needed significantly less if the extra credit they offered is actually 2 percentage points to your final grade.

my school has the +/- system. I hate it. When I get an A+, I still get a 4.0. That kind of irritates me because if I get an A- I get a 3.84...

I actually haven't seen any school, college or otherwise, that actually computes A+ grades. The highest is a 4.0 for most places. If the school uses a different GPA calculation system that assigns more weight for A+ (making a GPA above 4.0 possible), PharmCAS would reassign the grades to the more common system, anyway. Most places just top out at an A, not an A+.

Exactly! I get a lot more A- than I do B+. I'm not really into the idea of shooting for a 94 or 95. I like 90.0's.

UPDATE: semester of slacking has lead to following grades:

MICROBIOLOGY=A-
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY=B+
HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY= B+
PHYSICS 1 = C (didnt attent a single lecture lol)

Ya, I understand the logic behind it.... I just don't like it, lol.

Dammit... o-chem quiz in 1:50... no enthusiasm to study at all... 😴 And I even got a good night's sleep last night, too.

Not everyone wanted to be in med school though.😉

👍

Pharmacy school is for people who want to be pharmacists. It's not the low rent/bargain basement back up plan for those who couldn't get into medical school.

Seriously. When I hear about someone who went to pharmacy school because they either didn't have good enough stats to get into med school or didn't have their med school stuff turned in on time, I get a bit worried about them.

If someone truly wanted to be a physician, I think they'd be unhappy in pharmacy school. Totally different professions. It's laughable that people view different health careers as interchangeable that way.

I've been told by pharmacists that since the job market isn't hot right now, I should go be a nurse. 😕

Do you want to be a pharmacist or a nurse?

I dunno if chasing another profession just for the money is worth it.

Yeah, if you want to be a nurse, that's fine. But it's so different from being a pharmacist. Might as well say, "The pharmacy job market is so bad right now, you should be a flight attendant or Victoria's Secret Model." :meanie:

I can't help myself.

No, that's the point...I'd hate being a nurse! That's why I was confused by the recommendation. Plus, I doubt their job market is any better than the market for Rphs.

Medicine was my backup plan in case Pharmacy did not work out for me. (OK, go ahead and ridicule me now😛)

Latest update: Got a 93 on my biochemistry "final" after going to less than half the classes and studying for approximately 1-2 hours the night before. I got the same score on the previous test and busted my balls for three consecutive nights in the library.

Seriously?
