Hi, Everyone!

I graduated in 2011 with a degree in theatre, but now I've decided that what I really want to do with my life is go to med school. Now that I've decided that, my main focus now is finding a post-bacc program and figuring out how to pay for it. The program I've been looking at the most is Harvard's pre-medical program simply because I've taken a few classes through their Summer and Extension schools before and loved them, but I'm looking any and everywhere.

I'm just worried about how to pay for the schooling. I've seen that with some certificates and degrees, you can receive some aid from the federal government but perhaps not the entire amount you'd need to pay for tuition. Can anyone help me out? If you've gone or are going to a post-bacc program, how did you pay for it?

Thank you so much! I appreciate your responses! 🙂

Hello mlperez, your question might be better served in the post-bac forum

Most of my friends that did the postbac covered it through a combination of private and public loans. Unfortunately, since a postbac is considered 5th year undergraduate, there is a cap for the amount of borrowing you can do through federal loans. Most people who weren't able to pay the difference, then turned to private loans.

If your GPA/EC's are up to par, I highly recommend doing one of the top formal postbac programs, however I have heard of many successes through the HES program as well.

Thanks, DarkJedi!

I didn't realize there was a post-bacc forum. Also, thanks for your help! That's what I seem to be coming across, but I just wanted to double check with others.
