Hey everyone! I was just wondering how long it will take for AMCAS to certify our apps and send them to the schools after we submit. If anyone is certified yet by AMCAS (2003), can you post the info please?

Thanks!

Kirk

hahaha, oh my gosh ur so optimistic...u just wait 4 months down the line, u will be like this :p

in fact, that graemlin was specifically designed for AMCAS 2002 :D ....

one of my friends had her application last year verified after 7 months, <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

good luck!!!

That NOT what i want to hear! :D I really hope they are a little quicker this time!

it took them 12 WEEKS to certify my application; well that was after I threatened a law suit, so it may have rolled to 16 weeks. Hypothetically, they take 4-6 weeks; at least that's what they tell you.

ok, so here is my dumb question of the day - how do you know what's going on with your app once you have submitted it?

i submitted, but i'm not holding my breath on certification for a while!

Believe it or not, i submitted my application last year on October 10th. It was verified on October 31st! So, it may happen quicker then you expect. After all, AMCAS really has to redeem themselves after last year's fiasco!

I submitted my app for early decision, so I hope they are fast about it. If they miss the deadline am I just screwed?

The school will go by the date with which you submit the AMCAS application. As long as that is before their deadline date, you are Ok. Good luck...for which school did you apply EDP?

•why does everything take so long?•••••Because their electronic system is atrocious, and also because someone has to verify, by hand, that the courses/grades from your transcript match what you entered into your AMCAS application. These two factors, coupled with the tens of thousands of applicants makes for a quite pokey pace!

Has anyone gotten an e-mail stating that the AMCAS was received by them after submission? I could swear that I got one last year, soon after I sent mine in. I did not get one yet though after submitting two days ago.

Hey Guys! I just checked my app on the AMCAS web page, and it now says this:

Current Application Status: Verification

Your application is currently being verified. Allow at least fifteen working days for the verification process. Your application will then be transmitted to your designated medical school(s), and you will receive an email informing you that your application has completed the verification process.

Looks like they are doing much better this year!

Kirk

Kirk,

When did you submit?

I submitted on the 10th, around 11pm or so...

Update on my application: I had a bunch of P/F credits from my millitary record that were not showing up on my application, but now they are there and when I select "print application" they show up with X. The rest of my classes show up as /. The classes for the summer and fall that I am taking or going to take show up as - still.

My MCAT scores have not been added. I hope this info helps anyone who is interested.

I keep getting an error page when I try to access me application! anyone else have the same problem?

Kirk- Do you know if your school sent your transcript electronically or by mail? I had two undergrad schools. One of my schools mailed my transcript- they received that one. The other school sent it electronically two weeks ago and AMCAS still lists it as missing, even though according to my school AMCAS sent them a receipt saying it had been received. My school sent it again, but it still is not listed as received.

As far as I know, all my schools sent my transcripts through the mail. They each took about 2 weeks for AMCAS to email me and tell me that they received them. If you are worried, you could contact your school again and ask them to mail your transcripts to AMCAS. I am sure if they eventually get both copies they will just disreguard one.

applicant2003: ask school to send in paper format. It took 1 weeks for AMCAS to receive transcipts from my schools

I'm fairly certain that AMCAS will process the EDP application first since the school's need to interview and make final decisions by October. Best of luck Kirk...

Kirk and others,

Did anybody find the same problem when they audit their app? I've completed the whole GPA section of the application, including answering the two questions about MCAT (how many taken since 1991, if I'm taking August 2002 MCAT--no, thanks). But I did not add any "other test" score such as GRE or GMAT.

When I audited it, it says: WARNING: MCAT/Other Tests info left blank. I have rechecked that I had indeed answer the MCAT questions. Help! Did anyone encounter the same warning before you submit their app??? What did you do?

I understand that in my case I did left "Other Tests" blank, but AMCAS should not give a warning since "Other Test" is optional... It did not even give me a warning or error when I left the essay blank and audited it...

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your help!•••••It's supposed to do that. I don't know why, but it is. I think someone on this forum said not to worry about it and that they had no problems w/ their 2002 app. I got it on mine and I submitted it anyways. Even if there's some weird thing we're supposed to do about it (that we weren't aware of) AMCAS will figure it out and fix it themselves....That's what we're paying them the big bucks for!

Unfortunately my apparent ?good luck? went down the drain? I am getting the application error when I attempt to log onto my application. What is even more strange, the first time I got the error (I mean the exact time I tried to log on), AMCAS sent me an email saying they received one of my transcripts. It was the same email they sent me 2 weeks ago, and they had even already certified that transcript!

What a real pain! Has anyone had any luck in getting the error message to go away?

Kirk
