Post Interview - Is it better if you're waitlisted vs. complete silence?

Hi guys.

I am aware that every school does things differently post-interview; however, under the assumption that these schools gave out acceptances, waitlists, but NO rejection post-interview, who's better off? Waitlisted applicants or people haven't heard back after their interviews? Does it mean anything if I haven't heard back while other interivewees got waitlisted?

Most likely it means they're trying to decide whether to waitlist you or XXX you, with XXX being either accept or reject. There's no real way to tell. But between the two scenarios, I'd think waitlist or accept would be the more likely as it's a tougher decision.

Can others chime in? It seems like they wait-listed bunch of others and I haven't heard back yet. I guess there's no way to tell what they're doing behind the process, but why wouldn't they just wait list me if they were uncertain about their decisions?

Maybe check the threads from previous years? Was there a wave acceptances that followed the WLs? If so, that could be a good sign.

Complete silence is better in my experience. The two instances where I had complete silence eventually resulted in two acceptances. Anecdotal I know.
