Post-interview LOI

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
What could you possibly tell them that would affect their decisicion?
Dear adcom,

Thank you so much for taking the time to interview me last month. I just wanted to reiterate my enthusiasm for your institution. Interviewing with Dr. XXX and Mr. so and so really helped confirm my desire to want to attend BMS as it specifically meets all the criteria I am looking for. In return I feel I can add to the diversity of this years incoming class by the fact that I have recently become a Nobel laureate. I didn't initially mention the fact that I was being considered in my AMCAS or secondary as I felt it was in bad form to do so before it was official, but now that it is I just thought you should know. Being a Nobel laureate I am kind of a big deal now - so might I suggest calling an emergency adcom meeting so you can accept me ASAP.

With this is mind I have also enclosed my deposit in this letter to secure my seat for this years class, as a measure to save time. Please do not forget to send an info packet about the great scholarships you are planning to give me.

Truly yours,
XXXX

it's a little rough around the edges, but I think they would understand how you are pressed for time these days to write a better one. Thoughts?

Get in touch with your interviewer if you can and let him/her know why you are genuinely interested in their medical school and that its a top choice for you. Your interviewer is your biggest advocate for that medical school and they have to answer the question of if you're a fit for the school and will you attend it if accepted.

You seem to mean this comment to imply that the question itself is ridiculous because of course it's meaningless. But I've interviewed at two schools that explicitly encouraged post interview updates. Are they just lying? Seems an odd thing to bother saying if they don't care, given that staff time has to be spent on receiving the updates. I've also been to one school where post interview updates were explicitly not allowed, so it's something that varies from school to school.

If you have a substantial update I'd send it regardless of where you are in the process as long as the school doesn't forbid it.

If you are doing letting him know all of this after the interview.... ....Then what did you talk about DURING the interview?

If schools want to hear from applicants before a decision, then it's fine. I just can't imagine what one would say to affect the outcome of an admisions decision.

I've had a significant GPA increase this semester, and been accepted to a research internship at a local hospital for the spring. I've already been waitlisted at two schools so far, and just trying to keep that from happening at the other two I'm waiting for decisions on. Thanks for your input everyone.
