Hi, would it be effective to write a thank you email/letter to the medical school after an MMI interview or even a traditional interview? If so, to who?

Effective to what end? to offer gratitude for the opportunity to interview? In that sense yes. However, 90%+ of the time within 24 hours of interview/MMI, all reports/ evaluations have been filed and your letter wont have any impact on an adcom decision.

Not the case at my school.
Seeing a thank you letter is nice, but ultimately doesn't really have any impact.

The only reason one should send a TY letter is because your momma raised you to be polite. Period.
