Hey y'all 🙂 So I've been taking AAMC's practice exams and I'm wondering if anyone knows the level of difficulty of each of these- I ask because when I first started studying I took the later exams (11 through 8) and scored 28/29 pretty consistently.

Then today I took exam 5 and made a 34. I mean, I know I've studied like crazy and I'm really, really hoping that it's just seriously paying off- but is exam 5 known to be easier than the rest? I did look at years, and all the exams except #11 are from 2007.

Thanks for any help! 🙂

I think most people take them in order from 3-5 and 7-11. Usually the last two (10 & 11) are supposed to be the most accurate. For me, #10 came closest to my actual score.

Good luck!

There seems to be a general trend amongst test preppers that the test increases in difficulty in some capacity from 3 to 11. However, this is truly subjective! While there may be an agreed upon discrepancy in difficulty between 3 and 11, it would be impossible to say that 11 is the hardest and 3 is the easiest. All the tests test a variety of concepts, a hard test for you may have been easy to someone else based on strengths/weaknesses.

As for your specific instance - my first piece of advice would be to NOT invalidate your score because it is a lower test. There is a reason students take the practice tests - to get a grasp of AAMC's style and language, and to further improve your application skills. Going from a 28/29 to a 34 is awesome, and exactly the point in progressing your AAMC test taking.

Last point - the best indicator of your performance on the real deal will be your average AAMC test score +/- 1-2 points.
